With Stellantis Reinforcing Industrial And Strategic Leadership In The Brazilian Automotive Market, 2026 Marks The Celebration Of 50 Years Of Fiat In Betim, Debut Of An Unprecedented Electrified Car, 16 New Models Planned And Production Expansion In Goiana, Porto Real And Southern South American Poles, Backed By An Investment Of 32 Billion Reais

On December 8, 2025, during a press meeting in São Paulo, Stellantis outlined the next investment cycle and launched the roadmap for the celebrations of the 50 Years Of Fiat In Betim In 2026. Central to the plan is a new electrified model that will be produced in the Minas Gerais pole as a symbolic piece of the group’s new industrial phase in the country.

The presentation, led by Herlander Zola, president of Stellantis for South America, also confirmed a package of 16 new models and updates for 2026, in addition to a coordinated expansion of the Betim, Goiana, and Porto Real factories, anchored by a regional investment of 32 billion reais, the largest ever announced by the automaker in South America.

Betim Pole Reaches 50 Years With A Focus On Electrification

With over 18 million vehicles produced since its inauguration, the Betim pole remains a global reference within Stellantis.

For 2026, the Minas Gerais plant will receive a new electrified car from Fiat, which will be presented as part of the official celebrations of the factory’s 50th anniversary.

According to Herlander Zola, the strategy is to reinforce commercial, operational, industrial and strategic leadership in the Brazilian market while the company accelerates its transition to electrified mobility.

The Betim unit will continue to reinvent itself with new products and technologies, maintaining the high rate of localization that the group considers one of its main differentiators in the region.

The 50th anniversary programming includes cultural actions, internal events, and commemorative activations related to Fiat’s history in Minas Gerais, but the central point will be the arrival of the electrified model, designed to engage with Brazilian consumers and meet the energy efficiency demands of the new automotive cycle.

Goiana Will Be A Hub For Bio Hybrid Technology

At the Automotive Pole of Goiana, Pernambuco, Stellantis confirmed four new developments for 2026.

The factory will be responsible for producing four models equipped with Bio Hybrid technology, developed in Brazil to meet the characteristics of the local fuel market and the usage profile of regional customers.

The Bio Hybrid technology, already applied in vehicles such as Fiat Pulse, Fiat Fastback, Peugeot 208 Hybrid and Peugeot 2008 Hybrid, has exceeded 50 thousand units produced by the group.

With Goiana taking on a significant part of this architecture, Stellantis aims to scale up production, reduce costs, and consolidate the system as a pillar of its accessible electrification strategy in South America.

This decision follows the confirmation that the Leapmotor brand will also be produced in Goiana starting in 2026.

The move reinforces the role of the Pernambuco pole as a platform for new technologies and electrified vehicles, combining already established lines with the arrival of new globally positioned products.

Porto Real To Have A Second Shift And National Jeep Avenger

At the Automotive Pole of Porto Real, Rio de Janeiro, Stellantis is preparing a scale change in 2026.

The factory, which will complete 25 years of operation, will gain a second production shift to support the arrival of the New Jeep Avenger and the Citroën range already produced locally.

According to the company, the shift expansion in Porto Real will have a direct impact on the creation of skilled jobs and on the socioeconomic development of the southern Fluminense region.

The Jeep Avenger, considered internally as an unprecedented model in the portfolio produced in the country, will be the main driver of additional volumes and higher utilization of installed capacity.

In addition to supporting the growth of Jeep and Citroën in Brazil, Porto Real becomes a key player in Stellantis’ export and regional integration strategy, serving neighboring markets from an industrial base with greater flexibility and scale.

Investment Of 32 Billion And 16 New Models In South America

The industrial plan presented by Herlander Zola is part of a regional package that provides for an investment of 32 billion reais in South America, described by the executive as the largest in the history of the South American automotive industry.

For 2026, the group projects 16 new models and updates across different brands, with six of them equipped with Bio Hybrid technology.

The combination of electrified and new generation combustion products seeks to expand Stellantis’ market reach, catering to both those seeking low-consumption solutions and those prioritizing robustness and total cost of ownership.

The company emphasizes that the electrification strategy is not limited to fully electric vehicles, but includes hybrid solutions adapted to the infrastructure and fuel realities of the region, with engineering development concentrated in Brazil and integration with global centers.

Córdoba And Uruguay Complete Stellantis’ Regional Network

Outside Brazil, Stellantis is also adjusting its production map.

In Argentina, the Córdoba Pole takes on regional leadership in pickups as it prepares to begin production of the Ram Dakota, in a year when the unit celebrates 30 years of history.

In Uruguay, the group strengthens the country as a hub for commercial vehicles, focusing on models such as Jumpy, Expert, and the new Ducato line.

The strategy is to use the Uruguayan pole as a base to supply light commercial vehicles to various South American markets, complementing what comes from Brazilian and Argentine plants.

With this arrangement, Stellantis aims to balance production capacity, logistics, and demand, distributing specializations by vehicle type and technology among the different poles, while maintaining Brazil as the core for development, volume, and component localization.

At the end of the presentation, the central message was one of continuity in the investment cycle, despite the competitive environment and market uncertainties.

For Stellantis, the response to preserving margins and share involves new products, electrification at multiple levels and intensive use of local engineering throughout the supply chain.

In light of so many announcements, do you think Stellantis’ plan for 2026 consolidates Brazil as the center of the South American automotive industry, or is there still room for improvement in a decisive point, such as total electrification or exports?
