New Projects of the Indian Company Aim to Integrate Renewable Energy Generation with Hydric and Thermal Matrices in the Brazilian Energy Matrix, Understand the Numbers and Short-Term Plans of the Company in the Country

In the recently concluded transmission project auction in Brazil, Sterlite Power emerged as the winner of lot 13. The project will require an investment of US$ 0.6 billion over the next 3 to 5 years in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of the country. This addition increases Sterlite Power’s portfolio to 10 projects.

Speaking about Brazil and the company’s investment in the region, Sterlite Power Group CEO Pratik Agarwal said: “We are proud and honored to be part of the growth story in Brazil. Our motivation to work on the most challenging transmission projects that strengthen humanity has been the cornerstone of our journey in Brazil, we are committed to the region and hope to deliver the new project ahead of schedule.”

Rui Chammas, CEO of Sterlite Power in Brazil, said: “We are happy to have won this project in the current auction. I must congratulate ANEEL for providing a visible pipeline of projects and for the transparent way of conducting these auctions. Sterlite Power is committed to delivering these projects ahead of schedule, leveraging a network of partners and a first-class local team.“

The transmission system in Brazil needs to add significant capacity to manage the transition in the generation footprint: from a hydric and thermal base load to renewable generation.
