Event Held in Curitiba, Paraná (PR), Presents Modern Solutions Already Available in the Market That Can Diagnose Waste and Optimize Consumption and Help Save on Energy Bills.
According to a report released by the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE), electricity consumption in the country grew by 68,095 megawatts in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 0.9% compared to the same period in 2021. However, although it consumes a lot, the industry also wastes quite a bit. This is due to significant gaps that, over time, accumulate into huge losses. But how can companies save on their energy bills?
“Sixty percent of industrial consumption is in driving force, and often the industry loses money due to incorrect sizing, recalibrated motors – which account for nearly 80% of heat loss – and inadequate installations,” states Felipe Martins, technical promoter at Siemens, one of the world leaders in the market for miniature circuit breakers, at a recent event held by the Curitiba-based companies Engerey Electric Panels and Reymaster Electrical Materials, both focused on the electrical sector.
The good news is that the market already offers technological solutions that help reduce electricity bills and identify where there are “leaks.” Equipment, accessories, and cutting-edge items can pave the way for consumption optimization.

Electric Panels That Correct Errors and Make Energy Bills Compatible with Real Expenses Are the New Technology for Industry
Engerey, which has a robust portfolio of electric panels – such as the Medium Voltage Modular Cells SM6 and the Low Voltage Main Panels – presented details of the Capacitor Bank during the event. This panel, increasingly essential in industries, functions to correct power factor and possible electrical fluctuations in machines and equipment, thereby correcting errors and generating an energy bill compatible with expenses and without overloading the electrical system.
One of the examples mentioned at the event demonstrates the efficiency of the solution in this regard: an industry that was paying a fine of R$ 3,500.00 for exceeding the limit of reactive energy consumption [the energy that produces the magnetic flows that an inductive motor needs to keep the equipment “on”] saw a return on its investment of about R$ 24,000 within six months after installing the panel.
“Today, many companies end up overpaying on their energy bills without actually using it. Correcting through the capacitor bank brings savings and efficiency,” highlighted the technical consultant at Engerey, Reynaldo Carraro Gabardo. It’s like paying for a beer with too much foam: the excess energy is like the foam in a glass.
Frequency Inverter Is a Bet for Companies That Want to Save on Energy Bills
Frequency inverters were also highlighted, equipment widely used in the industry, whether small, medium, or large, that optimize and advance control of various types of motors.
“The frequency inverter is one of the solutions for energy savings, which can increase the lifespan of motors and save up to 60% of energy and provide advanced control of motors, for example. There are some types of inverters already prepared for Industry 4.0 that can be connected and easily allow control,” shared Felipe Martins. Among the solutions presented is the smart access operation panel, which connects to mobile devices via wireless and allows speed parameterization through a simple and intuitive web interface.
The use of the soft starter from Siemens is another good option for entrepreneurs seeking savings. The device controls the voltages upon motor startup, managing acceleration and deceleration, prolonging the lifespan of the motors, as it smooths out energy consumption while limiting startup current, thus protecting the entire system.
Did You Know? The Company’s Wi-Fi Network Can Help Save on Electricity Bills by Connecting with the Lights
Another solution responsible for reducing industrial electricity bills by 79% depending on the application is the use of tech lighting, including lamps and fixtures connected via wireless. The innovation works especially well for small and medium enterprises [with up to 200 light points] and is a launch from Philips, part of the Interact Pro line. It gathers information, allowing automated commands with integrated sensors to ensure that industries are not left in the dark, literally.
The line is wireless, super-connected, featuring presence and brightness sensors, which automatically reduce intensity or turn off when not needed. Interact Pro anticipates the lifespan of the lamps, with quick installation that eliminates the need for cables.
Solar reflector solutions with remote control were also presented, equipped with presence sensors. “When they detect the presence of people, the products operate at their maximum brightness, 100%, and without presence drop to just 30%. They are automatic and receive commands from five meters away via remote control,” states Souza.
“I already knew a lot of the solutions presented, but the connected lighting aspect is indeed very interesting,” commented Moacir Paiva Silveira, responsible for the electrical part of the Luciani Furniture Industry group in Colombo/PR. The possibility of connection and savings also impressed Denivaldo Conti from PBTec.
“We work a lot with frequency inverters and that really helps a lot with savings, but at the event, the lighting control aspect caught my attention. It’s something for the future, which is growing and we need to know more about,” remarked the professional from the automation service provider.
The event in Curitiba was open to clients and collaborators. The idea, according to the managers, was to share the new market trends. Reymaster and Engerey work with solutions and technical assistance that prioritize economy, safety, and quality of products and services.
“Events like these are important because they allow the presentation of new solutions to the market. Reymaster and Engerey offer technical support to accompany the implementation of solutions in the company and measure the results,” says Marco Stoppa, director of Reymaster.
