The Largest Oil Producer in Brazil Contracts Giant Subsea 7 for Engineering, Fabrication, Installation, and Pre-Commissioning Services of FPSO Duque de Caxias
The giant Subsea 7, a global reference in subsea projects and services, announced in a significant fact on the morning of May 24 that it has just secured a billion-dollar contract with Brazil’s largest oil company, Petrobras. The deal involves the subsea project for the FPSO Duque de Caxias — Mero 3.

According to the oil company, the scope of the service includes engineering, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of 80 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines, 60 kilometers of flexible service lines, 50 kilometers of umbilicals, and associated infrastructure, as well as the installation of the anchoring system for the FPSO.
Although it did not disclose the exact value of the contract, Subsea 7 stated that the deal was closed between US$ 500 million and US$ 750 million. According to the Norwegian company, project management and engineering will begin immediately in offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris.

Meanwhile, the fabrication of the pipes will take place at Subsea 7’s facility in Ubu (ES). Additionally, Subsea 7 indicated that offshore operations for installation of structures are expected to occur in 2023 and 2024. For these activities, Subsea 7 will use its fleet of rigid pipe vessels.

Subsea 7 looks forward to working closely with Petrobras to successfully deliver the project,” celebrated the company’s Vice President in Brazil, Marcelo Xavier.
Petrobras Refineries That Will Not Be Sold Will Receive Investments of US$ 300 Million By 2025
Petrobras announced that it intends to invest around US$ 300 million in refineries that are not on the divestment plans. The state-owned company’s announcement was made on the morning of this Monday (24), and the investments aim to increase the efficiency and performance of its assets. The Petrobras refineries that will receive the investments are Presidente Bernardes, Duque de Caxias, Capuava, Paulínia, and Henrique Lage, all distributed in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The RefTOP program also aims to position Petrobras more competitively in the opening of the oil refinery market in Brazil. The state-owned company also stated that it evaluated global references of the main refining indicators to set the program’s objectives.

Petrobras opened, this morning (05/24), 335 job openings for unexperienced professionals in its young apprentice program. The opportunities for candidates without experience offered by the state-owned company, which operates in the oil, natural gas, and energy industries, are available in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Ceará, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as the Federal District.
Interested candidates in the Petrobras Young Apprentice program must be between 14 (fourteen) years and 22 (twenty-two) years and 11 (eleven) months old at the time of admission. The maximum age limit does not apply to candidates with disabilities. The candidate will need to prove enrollment and attendance at school if they have not completed high school. In locations where there is no offer of high school, the admission of the apprentice may occur without school attendance, provided that the candidate has completed elementary education. Candidates under 18 (eighteen) years will need to have the assistance of a legal guardian to sign the apprenticeship contract upon admission to Petrobras.
