SunnyHUB Completes R$ 12 MM Fundraising Through Receivables Assignment Aiming for Solar Energy Democratization
With the funds, the company aims to invest in purchasing more panels to increase its customer base
SunnyHUB, a Brazilian subscription-based solar energy company, has just completed a fundraising round worth R$12 million through receivables assignment. This unprecedented achievement is the first validated by B3 since the approval of the Provisional Measure in 2022 that regulates this type of transaction. Aiming to transform the renewable energy market in Brazil, the company, founded in 2018, has stood out for its innovative business model, offering subscription-based solar energy, a business model that is on a growth path. With this funding, they plan to invest in modernizing the business, purchasing more photovoltaic panels, and consequently expanding their customer base.
According to data from Absolar (Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Association), the number of users in the shared generation model increased from 43 in 2015 to over 11,000 in 2022. This increase follows a period in which electricity bills became heavier on the pockets of Brazilians. A survey conducted by Abraceel (Brazilian Association of Energy Traders) shows that electricity bills rose more than double the inflation rate between 2015 and 2021.
Unlike conventional energy utility companies, SunnyHUB allows Brazilian consumers to access a more sustainable, predictable, and economical energy source. The company installs equipment at no additional installation cost in customers’ homes and charges a fixed monthly fee, which is on average 25% cheaper than the cost of conventional energy.
