Suzano’s New Pulp Factory in MS Continues in the Technical-Economic Feasibility Study Phase
Everything indicates that it won’t be long before one of the largest pulp manufacturers in the world, Suzano, makes the official announcement of the installation of its third factory in Mato Grosso do Sul.
The expectation is that in the coming days, Suzano’s Board of Directors will approve the construction project for the factory in Ribas. Due to the increase in demand for pulp, especially from China, as well as other countries, Suzano has raised the price per ton of the product, which will allow the company to execute the project in Ribas do Rio Pardo, estimated at around US$ 3 billion.
“Suzano informs that the Jubarte Project, the construction of a new pulp factory in the municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo, is still in the phase of technical-economic feasibility studies and project detailing, as well as the beginning of the preparation of part of the necessary infrastructure for the execution of the project once approved by the Company’s Board of Directors. We also clarify that Suzano continually evaluates growth opportunities and value generation, according to market conditions,” states the company in a note sent to JPNews.
Jubarte Project Should Add 2.2 Million Tons of Pulp Annually to the Company
Suzano’s president, Walter Schalka, has already indicated that the company will proceed with the investment as soon as it has the appropriate financial structure.
The Jubarte Project is expected to add 2.2 million tons of pulp annually to the company’s current capacity, which already produces more than 100 million tons per year.
The mayor of Ribas do Rio Pardo (PSOL), João Alfredo Danieze, met last month with Governor Reinaldo Azambuja (PSDB) to discuss the necessary investments in the municipality with the installation of the factory.
