Federal Institute opens vacancies for free technical courses in 2026. See how to enroll, dates, types of selection, and distribution of vacancies.

The Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) is open for applications until May 7, 2026, for more than 2,400 vacancies in free technical courses distributed across 15 campuses in the state. The selection includes candidates who wish to enter in the second academic semester, through three access modalities: exam, public lottery, and order of registration. The process is aimed at students of different educational levels and offers opportunities for both those still in high school and those who have already completed this stage.

The vacancies are distributed among integrated technical courses with high school, subsequent (for those who have already finished high school), and concurrent (for those studying high school at another institution). The goal is to expand access to public and free professional education, catering to different student profiles.

Federal Institute expands vacancies in free technical courses for 2026

The offer of vacancies at the Federal Institute reinforces the expansion of technical education in Brazil. In total, there are 64 free technical courses available in various areas, such as industry, technology, health, management, and tourism.

Moreover, the diversity of options allows candidates to choose the training most aligned with their professional profile. Courses such as Mechanics, Systems Development, Gastronomy, and Occupational Safety are among the highlights of this edition.

Another important point is the geographical distribution of vacancies. The courses are available in strategic cities, such as Florianópolis, Joinville, Chapecó, and Criciúma, facilitating access for students from different regions.

How vacancies and selection types work at the Federal Institute

The selection process of the Federal Institute presents three distinct formats. Each of them caters to specific candidate profiles and offers different ways of entry.

See how it works:

  • Exam: The candidate takes a test with 28 objective questions. The registration fee is R$ 55, but it can be waived in specific cases.
  • Public lottery: The selection occurs through an electronic lottery, broadcast live. It is free and defines the order of classification.
  • Order of registration: The vacancies are filled as registrations are made. That is, those who register first have a better chance.

This diversity of formats makes the process more democratic, allowing more people to participate in free technical course vacancies.

Free technical courses cater to different educational levels

The courses offered by the Federal Institute are divided into three main categories, each with specific characteristics.

Integrated courses are intended for students who have not yet completed high school. In this case, the student takes high school along with technical training.

Subsequent courses are aimed at those who have already finished high school and seek professional qualification. On the other hand, concurrent courses allow students to take technical education while studying at another school.

This structure expands access to vacancies and facilitates entry into the job market.

How to enroll in the vacancies at the Federal Institute?

The enrollment process is entirely online and requires attention to detail. The candidate must access the official system and fill in all information correctly.

The step-by-step includes:

  • Access the Admission System
  • Select the enrollment option
  • Choose the campus and desired course
  • Fill in personal data
  • Choose between open competition or quotas
  • Check the information and save the receipt

If the chosen course is by exam, a payment slip will be generated for the fee. The payment deadline is until May 8.

It is worth noting that each candidate can enroll in only one course per announcement. If there are multiple registrations, only the last one will be considered valid.

Quota system guarantees access to vacancies in free technical courses

The Federal Institute reserves 50% of the vacancies for students who completed all basic education in public schools. This policy aims to promote inclusion and equality of opportunities.

Within this percentage, there are subdivisions for:

  • Low-income students
  • Self-declared black, indigenous, and quilombola people
  • Candidates with disabilities

To compete for the quotas, it is necessary to present documents that prove the condition stated at the time of enrollment.

This system strengthens access to vacancies in free technical courses and increases diversity within the institutions.

Key dates of the selection process at the Federal Institute

The schedule of the selection process is detailed and requires candidates’ attention. Missing deadlines can mean elimination from the competition for vacancies.

Check the main deadlines:

  • Until May 7: applications open
  • Until April 24: request for fee exemption
  • May 4: result of the exemption
