A continent is rising, and that could lead to serious consequences. Antarctica, typically seen as a vast stable mass of ice, is beginning to rise at a much quicker pace, something that should take thousands of years, but is now happening in just a few decades. And this rapid change could bring significant impacts, mainly in terms of rising sea levels, which greatly concerns scientists.
Just imagine: Antarctica is losing weight due to climate change. With rising temperatures, the ice is melting faster, causing the continent to rise. This phenomenon, known as post-glacial rebound, should be a super slow process, but it is now happening very quickly. And this is not just a technical detail – the impact of this could be enormous for the whole world.
The Solid Part Below the Ice Sheet of Antarctica Is Disappearing
Scientists have discovered that the Earth’s mantle, that solid part below the ice sheet of Antarctica, is deforming much faster than expected. Normally, this part of the planet should respond to melting ice over thousands of years, but for some reason, it is reacting in just a few decades. If Global Warming Continues to Be Controlled, Sea Levels Could Rise by Up to 1.7 Meters by the Year 2500
To get a better idea of what this means, researchers performed 3D simulations to predict what could happen to sea levels. If global warming continues to be controlled, sea levels could rise by up to 1.7 meters by the year 2500. However, if we do nothing to curb warming, this rise could reach an astonishing 19.5 meters. That’s a lot of water!
The situation is serious because when ice melts more than land rises, more water is released into the oceans. This means that coastal areas and low-lying islands, such as Kiribati, which are already facing problems with rising sea levels, could suffer even more. And we’re not just talking about a local issue, but something that could affect regions all around the world.
Some Brazilian Cities Face Similar Challenges
In Brazil, there isn’t a city exactly like Kiribati in terms of geography and risk, but some Brazilian cities face similar challenges due to rising sea levels. Coastal cities such as Recife (PE), São Luís (MA), and Rio de Janeiro (RJ) have areas that are vulnerable to flooding and coastal erosion, especially in lower communities close to sea level.
Scientists are making it clear that time is running against us. Actions to reduce global warming are more urgent than ever. The future of Antarctica and sea levels depends on the choices we make now. O próprio governo deveria incentivar e ajudar a população a entender a real o problema que estamos todos causando.
É muito triste ver um povo sem nenhum conhecimento do seu próprio planeta ,acreditando que esta tudo bem e o mundo desabando em nossas cabeças por nossa culpa.
O que as autoridades não comentam é que a inclinação do eixo da terra está se acentuando com muita rapidez e que é ela a causa primordial do aquecimento global. Essa inclinação provoca o deslocamento das correntes martimas levando aguas quentes para o polo sul e outros locais. As baleias estão morrendo nas praias porque elas se orientam pelas coordenadas geográficas. A largura das praias do Caribe estão aumentando enquanto no Brasil o mar está invadindo a costa brasileira. Isso prova que o mar esta se deslocando de um lado para o outro e não devido a elevação das águas pelo aquecimento global.
Acredito que o planeta esta mostrando as consequências dos danos humanos!tem muito lixo no fundo do oceano,todo aquele petróleo q matou vários animais aquáticos hj ele se encontra no fundo do oceano!aquecendo tudo!por isso q muitos animais marinhos vinheram pra costeira quase mortos e muitos morreram!o humano pode fazer o que quiser..nada vai impedir da agua subir!ate o espaço esta sujo d lixo!fazendo com que elétrons magnéticos ganhar forças e assim consequentemente o sol fica mais forte!vamos viver em casas flutuantes..e ñ mais teremos terra!pra isso ñ acontecer!primeiro trabalhem na limpeza do oceano..muitos..muitos lixos sao jogados!logico q um dia teriamos o resultado!pela lógica do mundo .que e um círculo.o lixo encontrou o chão do planeta e assim todos os lixos amontoados fizeram com que acabasse o oxigenio do fundo do mar fazendo com que aconteça o degelo.
Por isso que a parte de baixo esta se derretendo!animais marinhos q chegam as profundades vinheram avisar..nao e sobre o degelo e sim a causa que está fazendo acontecer isso!muitas cargas vao para o oceano para serem jogadas gente!nao pensem q nao existe o fundo..o chao oceanico..claro q existe!tem fim..nao e infinito!..trabalhem com a lógica!lixo em cima e lixo em baixo…oxigenio do mar acabando e lixo espacial mandando cargas elétricas para o sol!(fazendo sol sobreaquecer ainda mais o planeta..derrete por cima e por baixo!ja era…a ganância de mordenizaçao esta acabando com o planeta!q serar so água e especies marinhas!vao dizer q e um ser q nao sabe o que diz!mesmo eu sendo isso..faça uma experiência..tente a limpeza e verar a evoluçao contrária!cada centimetros d nivel baixado e um grande avanço!..nao e impossivel!se o humano sabe destruir entao ele sabe reconstruir..
