The Consolidation in a Monumental Structure in 1964
The perception of the school’s magnitude was materialized in 1964, during the government of Celso Ramos. It was in this year that the imposing current headquarters on Avenida Mauro Ramos was inaugurated, a project that was born with the ambition to be grand. The main structure, with its 22,000 m² of built area, gave the school a unique physical presence.
In 1993, the complex grew even more with the definitive incorporation of the Rozendo Lima Sports Complex, which, according to sources from the institution itself, added another 5,000 m² to its already vast area, reinforcing the foundation for its reputation as the largest school.
The Numbers of IEE in 2024
The scale of the IEE is better understood through its current numbers. The official data from the 2024 School Census, conducted by INEP (an agency of the Ministry of Education), records 4,857 students enrolled in regular education (elementary and high school).
However, the institution itself clarifies that its community is much larger. Including participants of extension courses, cultural activities, and sports projects, the universe of people served daily by the IEE reaches almost 9,000 people.
