The NEOM Stadium, With 46,000 Seats and 100% Renewable Energy, Will Be Located Within the Linear Megacity The Line and Promises to Revolutionize the Concept of Global Sports Arenas

According to UOL data, Saudi Arabia is preparing to impress the world with one of the most ambitious projects in sports history: the NEOM Stadium. Suspended 350 meters above the ground, the stadium is expected to be completed in 2032, two years before the 2034 World Cup, and promises to redefine the concept of a sports arena.

A Linear City Without Cars

The stadium will be built within The Line, the futuristic linear city that is part of the NEOM megaproject. With a length of 170 kilometers, a width of 200 meters, and a height of 500 meters, the structure is expected to accommodate up to 9 million residents.

Urban mobility will be ensured by a high-speed train that will cross the entire city in just 20 minutes, eliminating the need for cars.

Additionally, both the stadium and the city will operate entirely on renewable energy.

This approach reflects the country’s commitment to diversifying its economy and projecting a more sustainable image to the world.

Capacity, Technology, and Innovation

With a capacity for 46,000 people, the NEOM Stadium is among the 15 arenas that will host matches of the 2034 World Cup. Other stadiums will be built in Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, and Al Khobar.

The arena will be managed by the Neom Sports Club, a team that belongs to the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the same entity that controls giants like Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ittihad.

The club, which recently reached the elite of Saudi football, will play its matches in Tabuk until the new stadium is completed.

A Symbol of the New Saudi Arabia

The NEOM Stadium is more than just a sports venue — it is a symbol of the country’s transformation.

It represents Saudi Arabia’s effort to combine luxury, technology, and sustainability into a single monumental project that, once completed, could forever change the experience of watching a football game.

More Details About the Stadium

The NEOM Stadium project features impressive details that help to understand why it has received so much international attention.

It will be erected within the THE LINE complex, the linear megacity that spans 170 kilometers, with a width of 200 meters and a height of 500 meters, according to official data.

Construction of the arena is scheduled to begin in 2027 and finish in 2032.

One of the most surprising aspects is the altitude of the playing field: the grass will be located more than 350 meters above the ground within the city-building structure.

The estimated capacity is around 46,000 spectators, meeting the minimum requirement set by FIFA for World Cup 2034 quarterfinal stadiums.

Furthermore, the stadium will play a continuous social and sports role. After the World Cup, it is intended to become the home of a professional club in the new city, meaning it will serve not just for the one-time event, but for the daily use of the local community.

The entire complex is part of a neighborhood dedicated to sports, alongside a university and health and wellness district.

Another relevant detail: mobility will be designed to avoid conventional cars.

Transportation within the megacity will use high-speed trains and electric systems, integrated into the city-building itself.

Energy will also be 100% renewable, sourced from wind and solar, reinforcing the sustainable innovation character of the project.

In summary, the NEOM Stadium stands out not just for its shape or location, but for carrying with it a purpose of integrating city, sports, mobility, and environment.

This arena goes far beyond a conventional stadium — it will be an integral part of an urban and technological dream that Saudi Arabia is building.
