Costing more than 500 million euros, the megayacht Luminance arrives in Mallorca with 138 meters, two helicopter pads, a sea-level pool, and a million-dollar operation that exposes the new level of luxury in the Mediterranean

A luxury giant begins to dominate the scene in Mallorca. The megayacht Luminance, at 138 meters, emerges as one of the largest ever seen in the region and draws attention for its level of sophistication.

Valued at over 500 million euros, the boat transforms the port into a showcase of global wealth. The presence of the vessel attracts onlookers and reinforces the weight of high-end tourism in the Mediterranean.

Structure impresses with size equivalent to a 40-story building

The Luminance has dimensions that rival urban constructions. Its length is equivalent to a 40-story building lying on the water, creating an immediate visual impact.

Built by the German shipyard Lürssen, a world reference in luxury vessels, the project started in 2018 and was completed in 2024, consolidating cutting-edge technology and design.

With 138 meters in length and an estimated value of over 500 million euros, the Luminance has joined the select group of the largest symbols of luxury at sea. Just to keep operating, the superyacht may require up to 50 million euros per year in maintenance.

Luxurious interior transforms the yacht into a floating hotel

The exterior design is signed by Espen Øino, a well-known name in the naval sector. The interiors were created by the French studio Zuretti Interior Design.

The result delivers an environment comparable to high-end resorts. The yacht features two helicopter pads, a pool close to sea level, a full spa, a gym, and an internal elevator that connects the different floors.

Operation requires a large crew and million-dollar costs

The vessel can accommodate more than 20 guests with extreme comfort. To keep everything running, more than 30 crew members are needed for constant operation.

Annual costs hover around 50 million euros, including fuel, maintenance, and salaries. This amount positions the yacht among the most expensive to maintain in the world.

Owner built fortune with industry and energy

The owner is Rinat Akhmetov, considered the richest man in Ukraine. He founded the System Capital Management group and built his fortune in the mining, steel, and energy sectors.

The son of a miner, the businessman expanded his ventures after the fall of the Soviet Union. He is also the owner of the football club Shakhtar Donetsk and ranks among global billionaires.

Presence of the yacht contrasts with the context of the war in Ukraine

According to Ana Márquez, a journalist specializing in lifestyle and international affairs, the businessman rarely leaves Ukraine since the war began.

Even with the yacht cruising through the Mediterranean, he remains focused on his business and initiatives related to the country’s reconstruction.

The yacht linked to the richest man in Ukraine boasts impressive numbers: 138 meters, space for over 20 guests, more than 30 crew members, and two helicopter pads. The annual operating cost can reach 50 million euros, elevating luxury to another level.

Dispute between superyachts defines new global luxury standard

The Luminance is part of a select group of giant vessels. Among its competitors are the Azzam, at 180 meters, the Eclipse, and the Dilbar, all owned by influential billionaires.

These projects redefine the concept of maritime luxury. Each new yacht pushes boundaries and brings the idea of a floating palace even closer.

The advancement of these giants of the sea reinforces the silent competition among great fortunes. The impact goes beyond tourism and reveals how extreme luxury redefines spaces and priorities.

The presence of the Luminance in Mallorca highlights this global movement. A scenario that pressures markets, redefines standards, and changes the strategic reading of international luxury.
