Tested at Haras Tuiuti (SP), the new Yamaha MT-07 2026 arrives with a lighter chassis, inverted suspension, and an engine adjusted for Promot 5. Check out the complete technical specifications.
Yamaha presented the new generation of its medium-displacement naked at the Haras Tuiuti circuit in São Paulo. The Yamaha MT-07 2026 arrives in Brazil completely revamped, featuring the same model sold in Europe, with a new chassis, updated design, more technology, and a suggested price of R$ 57,990.
Despite maintaining the base of the acclaimed CP2 engine, the motorcycle underwent significant evolution in its structure and electronics. The goal was to modernize the model without losing the main characteristic of the MT family (Master of Torque): the delivery of strong and fun torque.
The News on the Chassis, Design, and Lighting of the MT-07
The structure of the Yamaha MT-07 2026 is entirely new, featuring a lighter chassis that contributes to the agility of the bike. The design has been revised with more aggressive lines while maintaining the visual identity of the family. One of the most noticeable updates is the lighting system, which is now full LED, including the headlight, taillight, and turn signals.

Fiat launches the new 2027 Toro hybrid with 48V, 176 hp, an electric motor of 15.5 hp, a 0.85 kWh battery, up to 7% fuel savings, 8% fewer emissions, and possible exemption from IPVA.
Considering ergonomics, Yamaha redesigned the seat. Although the height from the ground remains the same as the previous version, the seat is narrower, which eases the reach to the ground for shorter riders. The fuel tank, now with a capacity of 13.6 liters, also gained new grooves to improve engine acoustics.
Did the MT-07 Become Softer with Promot 5?

The heart of the bike remains the two-cylinder crossplane engine with 689 cm³. However, it has been adapted to meet the new emissions regulations of Promot 5. As a result, power has been adjusted to 73.4 horsepower, a slight reduction compared to the previous generation. The torque is 6.9 kgf.m at 6,500 rpm.
In tests conducted on the track, experienced riders noted that the power delivery is now more progressive. The bike feels “softer” at low revs, with the electronic throttle opening the butterfly more smoothly. Total power becomes more explosive above 6,000 rpm. For beginners, this characteristic makes the Yamaha MT-07 2026 more controllable and safe.
Inverted Suspension and More Technology for Riding
One of the most welcome improvements in the handling was the adoption of a front suspension with an inverted fork. Although it lacks adjustments, the new setup is more robust and improves handling. At the rear, the bike has a monoshock with preload adjustability.
The braking system has also been enhanced, featuring a dual 298 mm disc at the front and a 245 mm disc at the rear, both with ABS. Another important novelty is the inclusion of traction control, which has different levels of intervention and can be turned off by the rider.
The Great Technological Evolution of the Yamaha MT-07 2026
The biggest evolution of the model lies in its embedded technology. The Yamaha MT-07 2026 now comes with a 5-inch TFT display, fully digital and colored. It offers four different view themes, allowing the rider to choose between a more classic look or a performance-focused one for the track.
All controls of the display are operated by a new switch on the left handle, without the need to take the hand off the handlebars. Additionally, the display features smartphone connectivity via the Yamaha MyRide app. With it, it’s possible to receive notifications and use a turn-by-turn navigation system developed in partnership with Garmin.
Price and First Impressions on the Track
The new Yamaha MT-07 2026 was launched with a suggested retail price of R$ 57,990. The first impressions on the Haras Tuiuti track were positive. The bike proved to be extremely lightweight, with a weight of 183 kg in running order, and very agile, with handling reminiscent of the MT-03, but with much more engine.
The torque continues to be the highlight, making the ride enjoyable, especially when exiting corners. The new, more controlled power delivery was seen as a positive point for those moving up from a smaller displacement bike. However, the lack of a standard quickshifter was noted, a feature already present in some direct competitors.
