The data are from a survey by Softex, a social organization dedicated to promoting the IT area and which is part of the TechDev Paraná Project, an initiative that brings together business and public entities with the objective of developing IT activities. Among them are the regional office of the Association of Brazilian Information Technology Companies (Assespro-PR), the Government of the State of Paraná and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Information.

To try to solve the problem, the project currently applies two surveys to identify bottlenecks and demands on human resources in the sector.

Research seeks to obtain mapping of existing job openings and investigates the lack of labor in the technology sector - IT

A survey seeks to obtain the mapping of existing vacancies in the area and find out where the shortage of labor is recurrent. It is aimed at companies that respond to a form with questions related to the size, segment of operation and profile of the enterprise, and also on forms of personnel recruitment, internship, employee maintenance, among other issues related to people management.

In turn, the second research aims to investigate necessary skills of hard skills and soft skills. The first term means the set of professional skills considered quantifiable, that is, that can be measured in some way. For example, certifications obtained by professionals, their academic and complementary training, among other characteristics. The term soft skills refers to more subjective skills, such as creativity, emotional intelligence and analytical thinking.

For the CEO of Assespro-PR, Lucas Ribeiro, the diagnosis will allow both entrepreneurs and public managers to establish more effective actions in favor of the development of the innovation sector. The leader highlights the leading role of Paraná in this scenario of potential in the area of information technology. For this reason, he points out that the participation of companies in the two ongoing surveys within TechDev Paraná is essential.

Paraná is the second state in IT billing

“According to the Acate Tech Report 2020, Paraná is the second state in terms of IT revenues – in the last period, it registered a growth of 25,4%. It is also the second state in terms of the number of new professionals trained and the fourth in terms of wage bill in total economic activities in Brazil”, explains Ribeiro, who is also CEO of ROIT BANK – accountech and fintech in Paraná. Agriculture and livestock activities, food industry and smart grid (automated management of the electricity sector) are among the highlights in IT job creation in Paraná, mentions the director.

Facing the lack of qualified labor is essential for Brazil not to miss out on the opportunity to be a reference in the global IT market, warns Ribeiro. Currently, the country is the 10th largest in the world and leader in Latin America, accounting for 40% of this regional market, according to the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES).

TechDev Paraná was launched last November. Ribeiro emphasizes the synergy of the actors involved: “The objective is to promote Paraná's technology and innovation ecosystem, connecting companies, universities, science and technology institutions and the public sector”, emphasizes the CEO of Assespro-PR.
