The rig's per diem during this extension will be reduced to around US$230, according to Petróleo Hoje. Initially, Petrobras paid US$460 per day, according to VesselsValue, but reduced the contract value to US$330 per day after negotiations began in the second half of 2020.
The deal was signed earlier this month and should see drilling operate exclusively on the Búzios project during the extension period. Etesco Takatsugu J has been working at Petrobras since February 2012. It is currently the only rig operated by Etesco in Brazil.
Petrobras also recently extended a deadline with Transocean to drill the Petrobras 10000. The deal is for two years, with Petrobras reportedly paying $300 a day.
