UFMA, through its program, offers a Professional Master’s Degree course lasting 24 months, aimed at graduates in Pedagogy and other Licentiate degrees, covering three lines of research: Teaching & Humanities, Teaching of Sciences & Mathematics, and Teaching & Languages.
Approved candidates in the program to become Masters in Education will have the chance to develop relevant research in their areas of expertise, with the support of qualified faculty.

The program offers a total of 20 positions, with 30% of these being exclusive for affirmative action groups, such as people with disabilities, black people, transgender people, indigenous people, and quilombolas. Additionally, 4 positions are reserved for UFMA staff. This diversity aims to ensure an inclusive and representative learning environment.
Graduates in Pedagogy and other Licentiate degrees who meet the requirements established in the announcement can apply for the free Master’s Degree in Education course. It is crucial for candidates to be aware of the required documentation and selection criteria.

Applications for the UFMA Master’s Course Are Open Until April 18
Applications began on March 24, 2025, and will remain open until April 18, 2025. During this period, candidates must provide all required documentation and complete a registration on the SIGAA website.
The application fee for the selection exam is R$ 150; however, candidates who are registered in the Unified Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) and members of low-income families will be exempt from the fee.
To request the exemption, candidates must present, prior to registration, documents such as a copy of their ID, a copy of the NIS, and a signed Application for Exemption.
The selection process will consist of five stages: approval of applications, written exam, analysis of pre-projects, questioning/defense of the pre-project, and evaluation of qualifications. Final scores will be released based on the rankings in the mentioned stages.

UFMA’s training to become a Master in Education will offer the following research lines:
Teaching & Humanities
Focuses on studying themes such as Ethics and Education; Education, collective actions, and human rights; Research and Intervention in Schools; Education, social and racial inequalities, among others.
Teaching & Languages
Includes studies that address teacher training based on topics such as: oral and written language, curriculum, management, and teaching. One of the focuses of this research line is to consider how language permeates students’ training and their practice.
Teaching of Sciences & Mathematics
Covers studies on the Teaching of Sciences and Mathematics: conditions, potentials, and challenges, methodologies and experimentation processes in Science Teaching. Initial and continuing training of science teachers, among others.
