Company Develops Wind and Solar Energy Tower That Could Change The Renewable Energy Market. Project Could Generate Up To 234,154 kWh Per Year.

With the global initiative to reduce pollutant emissions, the transition to clean energy sources is essential. The combination of wind and solar energy is seen as an efficient solution to tackle emissions linked to fossil fuels and sustain electric vehicles. An innovative solution called Wind and Solar Tower (WST) promises to be an affordable way to generate clean energy, producing up to 234,154 kWh per year from a single installation.

Understand How The Wind And Solar Tower Capable Of Generating Up To 234,154 kWh Works

The WST technology was recently unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, gaining recognition as the only hybrid generating system in the world that uses solar and wind energy. The system is efficient enough to make the energy generated by the WST more affordable than traditional sources of electricity generation, due to its production without the need for fossil fuels.

The wind and solar energy tower was created by Jim Bardia over several years. His design approach prioritized strength, redundancy, reduced friction, and ease of assembly and maintenance, making it similar to a race car in philosophy. An important element is the levitation hub with floating bearings, which enhances the efficiency of the vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) and reduces friction.

The wind and solar tower features a self-cleaning solar panel on top, which prevents performance degradation due to dirt, increasing energy production by 28%. The model is modular and flexible, allowing customization to meet varying operational demands, with key components stored in plug-and-play replaceable modules for easy maintenance.

Wind And Solar Tower Can Store Energy In 1008 kW Battery

The innovative wind and solar tower can simultaneously charge six electric cars and even return excess energy to the grid or store it in a 1008 kW battery. With the high demand for clean and sustainable energy, the Wind and Solar Tower has the potential to play a significant role in providing energy more efficiently and ecologically.

In addition to this wind and solar tower, the first hybrid solar and wind power plant authorized by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) was inaugurated in March this year in the Sertão da Paraíba. The complex is part of the Neoenergia group and is located in the municipality of Santa Luzia.

Meet The Project In Brazil

According to João Paulo Rodrigues, director of Institutional and Government Relations at the company, the hybrid wind and solar energy complex consists of 15 parks with 136 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 471 MW.

The investment for the construction of the project was R$ 3 billion and, according to him, it will significantly contribute to the security of the electric sector and the national transmission energy system. According to the state governor João Azevêdo, once again Paraíba is leading in the renewable energy sector with this large and pioneering hybrid clean energy generation complex in the municipality of Santa Luzia.

The governor commented on the environmental and social compensations, which have raised several questions from researchers and sector experts. The project, in addition to its importance for the energy sector and society with the generation of clean energy, also has a significant economic impact by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs during its construction.
