Special Operation Will Involve PRF Convoy, Temporary Roadblocks, and Reduced Traffic on Major Highways in Santa Catarina. Load Weighs 450 Tons and Occupies Almost Entire Lane. Transport of Giant Cargo on BRs 470 and 101 Begins in the Morning and Will Continue for Hours at an Average Speed of 20 km/h.
A rare logistical convoy is set to attract attention this Sunday (23) on the BR-470 and BR-101 highways in Santa Catarina. The transportation of giant cargo on BRs 470 and 101 will be conducted by a super truck measuring 86 meters long, which will carry a power transformer manufactured by WEG. The operation will require temporary roadblocks and PRF escort along the route between Blumenau and Itajaí.
The oversized load will necessitate partial traffic restrictions and will have an average speed of only 20 km/h, directly impacting drivers needing to travel through the area. The Federal Highway Police (PRF) warns that the transport could cause congestion and advises drivers to seek alternative routes.
Super Truck Will Transport Load of 450 Tons Between Blumenau and Itajaí
The transportation of giant cargo on BRs 470 and 101 will begin at km 51 of BR-470 in Blumenau and will proceed to km 117 of BR-101 in Itajaí. The operation is expected to last several hours and will conclude only in the afternoon.

Could Uber Rides Lose Minimum Fare? Understand What’s Happening!
The load being moved measures 86 meters long, 5.60 meters wide, and weighs a total of 450 tons, making it one of the largest road transports ever carried out in Brazil. According to O Blumenauense, the super truck will occupy almost the entire lane and, in certain stretches, may spill over into the opposite lane, necessitating momentary traffic shutdowns.
The transportation of giant cargo on BRs 470 and 101 requires special vehicles, prior technical feasibility studies, and logistical support from the PRF and the highway concessionaire. According to the Blog do Caminhoneiro, a similar operation occurred in October 2024, also involving a load from WEG, and took more than seven hours to complete.
WEG Power Transformer Will Head to Itajaí Before Being Sent to Final Destination
The transported piece was manufactured by WEG, a Santa Catarina-based reference in the production of electrical equipment. The exact destination of the transformer has not been disclosed, but it is expected to head via the Port of Itajaí for a major energy generation or distribution project.
The transport of equipment of this size poses a significant logistical challenge. Besides the size and weight of the load, the operation must comply with traffic regulations and will require detailed coordination among traffic authorities and specialized teams.
PRF Recommends Attention and Alerts for Blockages and Slow Traffic
The PRF issued a statement informing that the transportation of giant cargo on BRs 470 and 101 may cause congestion and momentary interruptions. The recommendation for drivers needing to travel through the affected stretches is to avoid overtaking near the convoy, maintain a safe distance, and stay alert for temporary signals.
The PRF also suggests that drivers seek alternative routes to avoid delays, especially on BR-101, which connects the Itajaí Valley to the Santa Catarina coast and experiences heavy traffic on weekends.
