Exclusive Supplier for Tepuy Photovoltaic Plant, Trina Tracker Strengthens Presence in Latin America with Factory in Brazil

Vanguard 1P: The Innovative Technology That Drives Energy Production

Trina Tracker, a division of Trina Solar focused on the development and manufacturing of smart solar tracking systems with Artificial Intelligence, has signed a significant agreement with the Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina). The contract designates Trina Tracker as the sole supplier of equipment for the Tepuy Photovoltaic Solar Park, located in Antioquia, northwestern Colombia. A total of 108 MW of solar trackers will be supplied, highlighting the Vanguard 1P, the company’s latest innovation.

This equipment employs the SuperTrack algorithm, optimizing the angle and movement of each row of solar panels to maximize energy production. This translates into an increase of up to 8% in energy generation, even in uneven terrain or during moments of diffuse irradiation.

Reduced Costs, Maximized Efficiency: The Impact of Vanguard 1P on Large Solar Projects

Designed to operate in high-capacity solar plants, the Vanguard 1P minimizes the requirements for drive systems and controllers per megawatt, generating substantial savings in both materials and labor hours during the installation phase. Additionally, the need for fewer foundations increases compatibility with cleaning robots, and the double damper system reduces the likelihood of damage caused by strong winds.

Latin America: A Fertile Market for Solar Technology Expansion

According to data from consultancy S&P Global, Latin America accounts for over 80% of photovoltaic projects that use solar trackers, a significantly higher number than the global average, which is around 45%. This high level of adoption signals sustainable growth for Trina Tracker in the region. The company believes that by introducing its next-generation smart solar tracking technology to Latin America, it will continue to drive the development of solar projects, contributing to a greener and more sustainable energy matrix.

Growth Bet: Factory in Brazil

In a strategic move, Trina Tracker announced in August the establishment of a factory in Salvador, the capital of Bahia, with operations expected to begin in the last quarter of 2023. The plant will have a production capacity of 2.5 GW in solar trackers, and it can be expanded as demand increases. In addition to serving the Brazilian market, the unit will also supply trackers to other Latin American countries, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to the region.

The agreement for 108 MW in Colombia, combined with the new factory in Brazil, positions Trina Tracker as a key player in the Latin American solar energy market, promoting a more sustainable future through cutting-edge technological innovations.
