After A Multi-Million Transaction For The Acquisition Of MWM Brazil, Tupy Announced That It Will Unite The Ideals Of The Companies To Start A New Focus On The National Market, The Manufacturing Of Engines And Other Equipment Aimed At The Energy Sector

The multinational Tupy, focused on manufacturing equipment for various segments of the international market, announced last Monday (04/18) the acquisition of the company MWM Brazil for a value of R$ 865 million. With the aim of changing its current focus and beginning to invest in the energy sector, providing engines and other equipment for projects in the national and international market.

MWM Brazil Will Be Part Of Tupy After The Completion Of The R$ 865 Million Transaction For The Purchase Of The Company, With New Directions Ahead For The Multinational

This last week marked a significant advancement for the diversification of the production of equipment and engines at the multinational Tupy, which announced the purchase of MWM Brazil, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Navistar International Corporation, which in turn is a subsidiary of Traton SE, and will now become part of the multinational’s portfolio, which acquired the company for an initial value of R$ 865 million subject to changes until the end of the transaction.

Tupy stated that this was a strategy undertaken to pursue vertical growth for both companies, focusing on both adding value to products and promoting viable solutions for decarbonization. Currently, MWM Brazil works in the manufacturing of engines and equipment and operates in the segments of machining, assembly, calibration, technical validation, and engineering services, being essential for the next phase of the multinational, which now aims to reach the energy sector with this production.

MWM Brazil announced in recent months several partnerships that serve the consumption of natural gas, biogas, and biogas use, meeting the needs of the Brazilian agribusiness, and with that, Tupy saw an opportunity not only for vertical growth but also to open doors to new segments. Now, the companies await the completion of the transaction process, as the value of R$ 865 million will be paid by Tupy after closing, but the acquisition is still subject to approval by the Brazilian antitrust authority and has not been finalized between the companies.

Purchase Of MWM Brazil By The Brazilian Multinational Is Part Of The Plan To Enter The Energy Sector With The Supply Of Equipment Such As The Engines Of The Companies

The main objective of Tupy in acquiring MWM Brazil was to enter the national and, primarily, international energy sector, with the aim of starting to supply electricity generator sets for agribusiness and other applications within the sector. Thus, the company announced that it has a fully qualified team to adapt generators and commercial vehicles for the use of biogas, biomethane, biodiesel, natural gas, and hydrogen, as a way to ensure even more efficiency for its customers.

In this way, José Eduardo Luzzi, CEO of MWM, stated that “The use of biogas and biomethane for electricity generation and as fuel for fleets of trucks, buses, and agricultural tractors is the main route for the decarbonization of the national and exporting industry of proteins, dairy products, sugar, and ethanol. The production of biogas in the country is inherent to the size of Brazilian agribusiness. It will also be used, to a large extent, as fuel for electricity production in rural properties through electric generators developed and manufactured by MWM.”

MWM Brazil has over 600 sales points and around 300 accredited and trained workshops currently throughout the country and will now have the possibility of further expanding its presence in the national market.
