How Will the Selection Process Be?
According to announcement No. 002/2025, published in the Official Gazette of the State of Bahia on January 8, 2025, the program will offer 30 spots for the 2025.2 class.
Enrollment can be done between January 20 and April 30, 2025, exclusively through the Postgraduate Selection System (SSPPG) on the mpeja.uneb.br portal.
The master’s program has a duration of 24 months and requires the completion of 47 credits (915 contact hours).
Its objective is to qualify education professionals to work on the development of research projects, pedagogical interventions, and technological innovations applied to the education of youth and adults.
The selection process will consist of five eliminatory stages:
- Approval of enrollments: verification of the required documentation.
- Currículo Lattes Evaluation: analysis of academic background, professional experience, and scientific production.
- Research Project Analysis: evaluation of the relevance, coherence, and feasibility of the proposed project.
- Proficiency Test: required only for foreign candidates and post-selected candidates.
- Interview: presentation and defense of the research project.
To advance through the stages, candidates must obtain a minimum score of 7.0 in each phase of the process. In cases of a tie, criteria such as age, affiliation with UNEB, and scores in specific categories will be considered.
Available Research Lines
The PPGEJA is structured into three main research areas, focused on understanding and improving teaching in Youth and Adult Education:
- Work, Education, Citizenship, and the Environment: investigates the relationship between work and education, public policies aimed at EJA, citizenship, social movements, and anti-racist education.
- Teacher Training and Public Policies: focuses on teacher training, analyzing the pedagogical and historical foundations of public policies applied to EJA.
- Educational Management and Digital Information and Communication Technologies: explores the use of digital technologies in educational administration and the development of digital competencies for educators.
Who Can Apply?
The master’s program is aimed at professionals with a recognized or validated higher education degree in Brazil, whether bachelor’s, teaching degree, or technologist.
Teachers, managers, and education technicians linked to public and private institutions, as well as professionals interested in academic improvement in the area of EJA, can apply.
Additionally, there is a reservation policy for specific groups:
- 20% for teaching, technical, and university analyst staff at UNEB.
- 5% for foreign candidates.
- 5% for UNEB graduates.
- 30% for general demand.
- 5% for each of the following categories: indigenous people, quilombola communities, gypsies, people with disabilities, people on the autism spectrum, people with high abilities, and transgender/transvestite/transgender individuals.
Importance of Continuing Education for EJA
Education for Youth and Adults plays a fundamental role in society by offering a second chance for those who did not complete their schooling at the regular age.
This segment of basic education is essential for social inclusion, citizenship, and professional development, and requires highly specialized teacher training.
Many EJA students face challenges such as needing to balance study and work, difficulties accessing technology, and a lack of methodologies suitable for their realities.
Thus, the qualification of professionals involved in this process is essential to ensure quality and meaningful education for this audience.
UNEB’s master’s program aims to fill this gap, training teachers and managers to work innovatively and efficiently, directly contributing to the improvement of Brazilian education.
How to Enroll
Interested individuals must register between January 20 and April 30, 2025, exclusively through the mpeja.uneb.br portal. The registration fee is R$ 160, and the entire process will be conducted online.
