One of the workers was welding on the distillation column, which caused the explosion.
The firefighters have already controlled the situation at the Porto Seguro ethanol plant, formerly Pantanal Plant.
Gasoline Prices Soar Again, Ethanol Shows Significant Increase at the Plant, GNV Hits a Record R$ 5 at Fuel Stations, and Consumers Have Nowhere to Turn
Research conducted between May 30 and June 5 by the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANP) shows that fuel prices have risen again in Brazil, and consumers have nowhere to turn. The price of regular gasoline reached R$ 5.89, while the additive reached R$ 6.29. Meanwhile, the price of ethanol has increased significantly at the plant, with parity to gasoline surpassing 70%, not to mention GNV, the fuel widely used by app drivers and taxis, which exceeded R$ 5.00 per cubic meter, a record!
Gasoline, Ethanol, Diesel, and GNV Prices Keep Rising, and the Newest Fuel, Biogas, Has Come to ‘Save’ App Drivers, Taxi Drivers, and Workers
With each passing day, the prices of gasoline, ethanol, and diesel are increasing, prompting Brazilians involved in passenger transport, like taxi drivers and app drivers, who used to rely on Natural Gas for Vehicles (GNV), to switch to biogas since GNV is also beginning to take a toll on their wallets. Biogas can be used without issues in vehicles equipped with a gas kit.
Petrobras has made a new adjustment in GNV prices, increasing it by 39% for distributors. According to a survey conducted by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP), in the last week of May, the price of vehicle gas for the end consumer had already reached R$ 5.00 in some locations in Rio de Janeiro. In light of this situation, despite not being a new solution, biogas has become popular for being more efficient and cheaper.
