After Investing About R$ 100 Million in Roraima, a Company from the Oleoplan Group Plans to Build a Thermoelectric Power Plant That Generates Energy from Palm Oil
The expected date for the start of operations of the thermoelectric power plant powered by biofuel from the Oleoplan Group company, Palmaplan Energia, is February 2022, and it is estimated that it will produce enough energy to serve about 35,000 families. The company uses palm oil, commonly known as palm fruit, in its production.

Over 100 Million in Investments from the Oleoplan Group Company
The Oleoplan Group company has already invested about R$ 100 million in the State of Roraima. The other units of the group work with soybean oil; however, southern Roraima is quite favorable for the palm oil production chain, which is used by the thermoelectric plant to generate energy.
The group has established itself in Rorainópolis, and this is due to climatic factors, as the Oleoplan Group believes in the State and also due to government support. The Oleoplan Group company was one of the winners of the 1st Energy Auction of the Isolated Roraima System and promises to generate about 10.976 megawatts of energy with the thermoelectric plant.

According to Leonardo Mailan, production manager of the company, the construction of the plant that intends to use palm oil is being carried out at an accelerated pace. This week, the group received the generation sets that arrived from Finland and were received at the Port of Caracaraí.
More Than 2,000 Hectares of Palm Oil
The Oleoplan Group is one of the largest biodiesel producers in Brazil and has been in the state for over 13 years. The company has invested in the planting of palm oil in the Vila do Equador, Rorainópolis, in an area of 2,000 hectares that it owns, which will continue to expand; in addition, the company also purchases palm oil from family farmers, increasing the area by 400 hectares.
While the thermoelectric power plant is not ready, the 25 tons of oil extracted daily will be sold in Bahia. As soon as the thermoelectric plant is finished, the oil will be used for energy production.
Mailan, regarding job creation and income in the region, states that the company has over 200 employees from Vila Equador who have been trained by the company, in addition to 50 families, suppliers of inputs, and the local commerce will benefit.
