The University of São Paulo (USP) is accepting applications for Project Redigir, a free writing and Portuguese language course promoted by the School of Communications and Arts (ECA). Aimed at low-income individuals over 16 years old, the program seeks to strengthen citizenship through language, promoting access to knowledge in an inclusive and accessible way.
In-person classes will take place on Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 12 PM at the ECA-USP campus, located in the West Zone of São Paulo. The course will run from April 5 to June 28, 2025. Applications must be submitted by March 29, through an online form published on the project’s official channels.
Who Can Participate?
To enroll, one must be 16 years or older, not have a degree from public higher education institutions, and reside in the city of São Paulo or the metropolitan area. Minors must submit a signed authorization from their guardians, following the model available on the project’s Instagram.

What Does the Course Offer?
The completely free course proposes activities that involve critical reading, text interpretation, writing production, and debates on social and cultural topics. The main differentiating factor of Project Redigir is its focus: more than teaching how to write well, it seeks to reflect on the use of language as a tool for social transformation.
Founded in 1999 by ECA-USP students, Project Redigir has already benefited thousands of participants and is currently coordinated by volunteer students under the guidance of university professors.
Social Importance of Project Redigir
Redigir not only strengthens participants’ language skills but also broadens their social and professional perspectives. According to data from the project itself, a large part of the alumni used the content learned to improve their performance in the job market, entrance exams, or public competitions.
Additionally, the course promotes participatory dynamics and current discussions, valuing each student’s individual repertoire and promoting the cultural and linguistic diversity of the participants.
How to Enroll?
Applications are open until March 29, 2025, and can be made online through the form posted on the project’s official Instagram: @projetoredigir. It is necessary to fill out all mandatory fields and, in the case of minors, attach authorization from parents or guardians.
