A Cow That Broke World Records Is Now Valued at a Staggering R$ 24.06 Million, Consolidating Itself as the Most Valuable Animal in the Global Livestock Market.
The sale of 25% of the rights to a Nelore cow, Carina FIV do Kado, set a world record this Friday (22). The amount of R$ 6.015 million paid for the stake in the animal raises the total estimated price of the cow to an impressive R$ 24.06 million.
With this, Carina surpasses the former world record holder, Viatina-19 FIV Mara Móveis, consolidating Brazil as a leader in the millionaire elite cattle market.
Carina FIV do Kado is only three years old and is already a three-time champion of the Nelore breed, with titles won at Expoinel in 2023 and 2024, as well as this year’s Expozebu, the main event of livestock in the country. Its value reflects not only the status of the most important Nelore matriarch of the moment, but also its ability to produce offspring with high genetic and productive standards.

Record-Breaking Business
The deal, made at the Cataratas Collection auction in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), involved the sale of 25% of Carina’s rights. The companies Casa Branca Agropastoril, RS Agropecuária, and Nelore RFA, which already owned the cow, now have Syagri Agropecuária, from Minas Gerais, as a partner.
With the closing of the deal, Casa Branca Agropastoril stands out even more on the international scene, being the owner of the two most expensive cattle ever sold. In addition to Carina, the company is also a partner of Viatina-19 FIV Mara Móveis, which now ranks second on the list of the most valuable animals.
Comparison with the Old Cow
The history of Viatina-19 FIV Mara Móveis helps to contextualize the magnitude of Carina’s achievement. Viatina, currently five years and ten months old, had one-third of its rights sold in June of last year for R$ 6.993 million. This amount represented, at the time, a total valuation of R$ 20.97 million, updated to R$ 22.02 million for inflation.
Another milestone for Viatina occurred in 2022 when half of its rights were traded for R$ 3.99 million. These numbers reinforce the growing valuation of the elite market and the potential for Carina, being younger, to reach even more impressive figures.
Elite Market and Genetic Improvement
The valuation of cattle like Carina and Viatina goes beyond the titles won in exhibitions. These animals have genetic consistency and established pedigree, characteristics that guarantee a significant financial return to ranchers.
The goal of genetic improvement is simple: to increase productive efficiency, allowing the offspring of these animals to produce more meat in less time and at a lower cost.
An example of this is Viatina-19, which, in just one year, generated over R$ 7 million in business. Recently, an unborn heifer from the former record holder was auctioned for R$ 3 million. This event, held in May, had all proceeds donated to the victims of the tragedy that devastated cities in Rio Grande do Sul.
At just three years old and already at the top of the global market, Carina FIV do Kado still has a long road ahead. Her young age, coupled with her promising track record, indicates that she may exceed the current record value in future negotiations. The bet on her potential reflects the vigor of the elite cattle market in Brazil, which stands out for its quality and genetic innovation.
