The platform is located about 200 miles (350 kilometers) off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, near St. John’s, in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin, in depths of about 300 feet (92 meters). The site consists of the Hebron, West Ben Nevis, and Ben Nevis fields.

Discovered in 1980, the Hebron field is estimated to contain over 700 million barrels of recoverable resources. The Hebron platform consists of a gravity-based structure that supports an integrated topsides deck that includes accommodations and drilling and production facilities. The platform has a storage capacity of 1.2 million barrels of oil.
The first oil from the platform was produced in November 2017. At its peak, Hebron will produce up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day.
The Hebron project is operated by ExxonMobil (35.5%) and its partners are Chevron (29.6%), Suncor Energy (21%), Equinor (9%), and Nalcor Energy – Oil and Gas Inc. (4.9%).
