Senar and the Rural Union of Itapeva are Offering Free Courses to Empower Rural Producers in the Production of Organic Strawberries, Focusing on Sustainable and Profitable Techniques. Check Out How to Enroll and Take Advantage of This Opportunity!
Senar, in partnership with the Rural Union of Itapeva, is offering free courses that train producers and rural workers in the production of organic strawberries. The program, which lasted seven months, included the participation of farmers from various neighborhoods in Itapeva and provided a true immersion into the world of organic agriculture, from soil preparation to the marketing of the final product.
Training That Transforms Lives Through Senar
The initiative goes far beyond teaching planting techniques. It is a true mindset shift for local producers. Working with organic strawberries is a challenge, especially in times when the use of pesticides dominates the agricultural scene. But the course showed that it is possible to produce sustainably, preserving the health of those who cultivate and those who consume. And best of all: without sacrificing profitability. Producers learned, in practice, how to manage pests and diseases with inputs allowed by organic agriculture, becoming more competitive and prepared to meet an increasingly demanding market.
The Senar program was divided into seven modules over seven months, from March to September, and included everything from the proper preparation of the soil, through planting and seedling management, to cultural treatments, pest control, harvesting, and even tips on how to market organic strawberries. And it was not just technical teachings: for many, like producer Sandra Galvão, this was an opportunity to revolutionize her own financial life. “With the production of strawberries, I was able to pay all my bills and even save some money, something I hadn’t been able to do for years,” she reported, highlighting the real economic impact of the program.

The Role of Courses in Diversifying Crops
This type of free course not only promotes the development of new skills but also encourages diversification on rural properties. Leandro Silva Quevedo, coordinator of the Rural Union of Itapeva, emphasized the importance of this diversification, highlighting how the production of organic strawberries adds value to the work of producers. In addition to improving the quality of life for families, the Senar program ensures that the final consumer has access to a higher quality product free of pesticides.
Producer Ana Alice was another who saw the program as an opportunity to grow. “My expectation is to sell directly to the consumer, without depending on middlemen, ensuring a good price and delivering a healthy product,” she said. The program gave her, and many others, the opportunity to become self-sufficient, broadening the range of cultivation and sales options.
How the Selection Process Works
The course, promoted in partnership with the Rural Union of Itapeva, is aimed at producers and rural workers in the region. The goal is to train small farmers to work with organic strawberries efficiently and sustainably. To participate, interested individuals need to be linked to the local Rural Union and meet basic criteria, such as availability for monthly meetings and interest in sustainable agricultural practices.
