With Exclusive GTS Line Visual, New Nivus Bets on Sports Performance, Suspension Adjustments, and Cutting-Edge Connectivity to Attract Those Seeking Power Without Giving Up Urban Style.
Volkswagen officially launched the new Volkswagen Nivus GTS on Tuesday (29), the sporty version of the compact SUV that debuts with a 1.4 TSI engine delivering 150 hp, exclusive design, and a focus on urban performance. With a suggested price of R$ 174,990, the model becomes the most expensive in the Nivus line and emerges as the main rival to the Fiat Fastback Abarth, which offers a similar proposition of a sporty coupe with a turbo engine.
The Nivus GTS 2026 arrives with the proposal to combine bold style, superior performance, and an extensive list of standard equipment. The version is equipped with Volkswagen’s acclaimed 1.4 TSI engine, which has also been present in models like Polo and Virtus GTS.
1.4 Turbo Engine of the Nivus GTS Delivers Superior Performance
The new Volkswagen Nivus GTS comes with a 1.4 TSI turbo flex engine, featuring direct injection and four cylinders, delivering 150 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque with any type of fuel. The transmission is a six-speed automatic, and the traction is front-wheel drive. According to official data, the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds on ethanol and 8.7 seconds on gasoline, reaching top speeds of up to 206 km/h.

Volkswagen applied exclusive suspension and brake adjustments to ensure greater stability and sporty handling, in line with the GTS proposal.
Sporty Design of the Volkswagen Nivus GTS Reinforces Visual Appeal
Visually, the Volkswagen Nivus GTS stands out clearly from the other versions. The front features a honeycomb grille with GTS signature in red, along with bumpers that have sporty details in the same color. The LED bar connecting the headlights is also present, reminiscent of the brand’s more sophisticated models.
On the side, 17-inch exclusive wheels come standard, with an option for 18-inch wheels at R$ 2,050. The rear maintains the standard of interconnected LED taillights and a larger spoiler. Inside, highlights include a darker finish, synthetic leather seats with red stitching, and a multifunction steering wheel with the GTS logo at the base.
Fuel Economy and Performance
The fuel economy of the Volkswagen Nivus GTS with gasoline is 11.6 km/l in the city and 14.2 km/l on the highway, according to data from the manufacturer. Although figures with ethanol have not been released, energy efficiency is one of the attractions of the GTS version, even with its sporty performance.
In terms of dimensions, the coupe SUV retains its 4.27 meters in length and 415 liters of trunk space, but its height has been reduced to 1.49 m, with a ground clearance of 17.1 cm, which favors dynamic handling in curves.
With a price of R$ 174,990, the Volkswagen Nivus GTS offers a complete range of equipment:
- Six airbags;
- Digital air conditioning;
- Rear camera;
- 10.25” digital instrument cluster;
- 10.1” VW Play multimedia center with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto;
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC);
- Blind spot sensor;
- Travel Assist (ACC with lane assist);
- Wireless phone charger;
- Lane-keeping assist and parking assist.
In the rear seat, there are air conditioning vents and two USB-C ports, increasing comfort for passengers.
Nivus GTS Faces the Fastback Abarth in the Automotive Market
The arrival of the Volkswagen Nivus GTS in the automotive market puts the model in direct competition with the Fiat Fastback Abarth, sold for R$ 171,990. The Fiat version features the 1.3 T270 turbo engine with 185 hp and 27.6 kgfm, as well as items like a sunroof, something the Nivus GTS does not offer due to assembly issues at the factory in São Bernardo do Campo (SP).
While Fiat bets on a more aggressive profile, Volkswagen focuses on embedded technology and the legacy of the GTS acronym, already known from other sporty models of the brand.
Price and Options of the Volkswagen Nivus GTS
The Volkswagen Nivus GTS is sold with black paint at no additional cost. For those wanting the colors Titan Blue, Sunset Red, or Moonstone Gray, an extra R$ 1,750 is required. The Crystal White color costs R$ 900. The roof and mirrors are always black, regardless of the body color.
In addition to colors, the only option is the set of 18-inch wheels. The model does not offer a sunroof or a premium sound system as options.
With the arrival of the Volkswagen Nivus GTS in the Brazilian market, the automaker reinforces its presence in the segment of compact SUVs with a sporty appeal. The proposal of the version is to meet consumers seeking a more dynamic experience without giving up connectivity and comfort, keeping the Nivus competitive even with a price above R$ 170,000.
Industry analysts are already observing that the Nivus GTS may boost sales of the line, which had been losing ground to competitors like Tracker RS and the Fastback itself.
