With the aim of expanding its electric and hybrid cars in the Brazilian market and debuting the new model in Brazil, Renault entered into a partnership with WEG and EDP to provide charging stations in several Brazilian states.

Together with WEG and EDP, Renault brings to the Brazilian market a new model of electric cars known as Zoe, Renault's 100% electric vehicle. For the debut of the electric car in Brazil, the French automaker has the help of WEG and EDP to provide charging stations, considering that, in Brazil, there are few charging points for electric cars.

WEG and EDP united to reduce CO levels2

EDP ​​will be responsible for providing the recharging stations produced by WEG, which will also be responsible for installing the equipment. Due to the Renault model being a fully electric car, the charging stations are of paramount importance, as it would be impossible to recharge without them.

In addition to the installation of stations in buildings for electric car consumers, the partnership with EDP and WEG plans to install strategic stations, where 10 charging points will be installed in Renault stores, with the aim of expanding the support network for electric cars. It is worth mentioning that WEG intends to develop even further in the Brazilian electric car market, expanding its sales.

Electric cars: Renault enters the race

Renault's electric car, named after Zoe E-Tech, will have two different versions. The first version known as “Zen” will cost approximately R$205 and the second version, known as Intense, will cost a little more, in the range of R$220. Renault's new car has a range of 385 kilometers and a 52 kWh battery.

The French automaker, launching the new model in Brazil, is aiming to expand its presence in the electric and hybrid car market. This sector that has been getting very competitive, despite still being just started.

More than 30 charging points for electric cars

WEG stations have three models and each one has a specific battery charging time. In the case of the Renault model, the time varies from one to three hours, depending on the type of season.

According to the superintendent director of WEG Automação, Mandred Peter Johann, the partnership will help WEG to demonstrate its efficient, intelligent and sustainable solutions for the electric car segment.

EDP, on the other hand, intends to install 30 charging points by the end of 2022, in the state of São Paulo, and already has 50 stations of its own. According to the vice-president of customers at EDP in Brazil, Carlos Andrade, the electric car sector is an important part of the energy change that the company aims to lead. Therefore, the company seeks to approach the main players, in order to help the growth of this market.
