Launched in 2019, the unprecedented e-Consorcio follows the model of the Modular Consortium, a unique production system in the world and revolutionary since its creation.
“The e-Consortium offers a complete and competitive solution for the adoption of Brazilian commercial electric fleets powered by solar energy. Companies that have investments in the logistics area play a fundamental role in the search for more profitable and sustainable assets, and energy flexibility is one of them”, says Ricardo Costa, President of GDSolar Holding.

The Volkswagen e-Delivery, a light urban truck powered by electricity, is now offered with an unprecedented service of consultancy and services that form a complete ecosystem of electric mobility. One hundred percent developed, tested and manufactured in Brazil, the e-Delivery models with 11 and 14 tons of total gross weight are the result of R$ 150 million in investments, the equivalent of more than 400 thousand kilometers of tests and the full dedication of a team made up of 150 Brazilian engineers and technicians.
WEG, one of the largest electric motor manufacturers in the world, is responsible for supplying VWCO's Powertrain system
WEG, as a member of the e-Consortium, will be responsible for supplying the main Powertrain system, consisting of an electric traction motor plus a frequency inverter, in addition to motors and inverters for auxiliary systems.
For e-Delivery, WEG, together with Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Engineering, developed a customized solution for the application, meeting the most demanding automotive requirements.
According to Manfred Peter Johann, Managing Director of WEG Automação, WEG, with a long tradition in the development of electric traction systems for buses, trolleybuses, trains, ships and boats, as well as systems for recharging electric vehicles, is now advancing in the series production of the Powertrain System for electric vehicles for urban deliveries. “Our experience in this electric mobility market has brought us this far. Our Powertrain technology, developed over the years, tested and in constant innovation, enabled us for this great technological cooperation project. Together with this e-Consortium team, we are working to transform the transport industry in Brazil”, explains the executive.
e-Consortium developed by Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, together with Bosch, ABB and Siemens, will enable the commercial fleets of the giants Ambev, Coca-Cola FEMSA Brasil and JBS
In addition to supplying Volkswagen electric trucks, the e-Consórcio will provide consultancy with specialized teams to guide logistics and transport companies on the best solutions for their fleet. The objective of the members is to enable the financial balance of the electric mobility of commercial fleets in the country. Ambev, Coca-Cola FEMSA Brasil and JBS are the first to acquire Volkswagen electric trucks.
“As a participant in the supply of photovoltaic energy, GDSolar developed, together with Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, a solution that reduces investments in the area of supplying solar energy to recharge trucks. With this, we close a virtuous cycle for the operation of the e-Consortium and contribute even more to adding value for customers”, adds Costa.
