WEG Seeks Daily to Meet the Market for Equipment That Is Becoming Increasingly Technological. In Addition to Wind Turbines, Recently, the Company Supplied Transformers to the Giant Eletrolux and to a Steel Company in Maranhão
WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, with a broad portfolio for renewable energy generation, has been looking to innovate and provide increasingly technological equipment to the market. For the wind turbine (wind generator) segment, the company has invested in artificial intelligence to plan predictive maintenance for the equipment. The solution works through cloud computing and is based on remotely collected data.

The application combines the WEGnology® platform and the artificial intelligence of BirminD, a company from the WEG Group. The artificial intelligence receives various data from the wind turbines (wind generators) in real-time, processes this information using BirminD’s automated machine learning solution, which tests dozens of algorithms automatically searching for the best performance, providing as a result the prediction (future state) of variables of interest for the team monitoring the equipment.
In summary, the product communicates in real-time with the wind turbines (wind generators) and anticipates potential maintenance needs, triggering early diagnostic and corrective action demands, avoiding losses in generator availability. Using data associated with the solution developed by WEG, it is possible to anticipate situations that influence the availability of the equipment, which can reflect in generation gains.

A couple builds a system to bring water from the spring to their land, climbs a hill with materials on their backs, and creates a simple, cheap, and sustainable solution to ensure their own water supply.
The solution is at an advanced stage of validation before being made available to the wind turbine (wind generator) market. It can also be applied in other segments such as: predicting overheating in inverters, efficiency of furnaces, cycle time of extruders, energy consumption, production demand, and many other applications.
Supplying Dry Transformers Will Allow Electrolux to Expand Its Energy Capacity
Electrolux do Brasil S.A, a company in the household appliances segment, aims to expand its energy capacity for new technologies being implemented at the facility. To ensure that this occurs safely and effectively, ensuring competitiveness in the manufacturing process, the client purchased two dry transformers at 34.5/11.9kV with a power of 15MVA. Both pieces will be delivered during June 2021, at the São Carlos (SP) unit.
These equipment will supply loads connected to more than ten transformers at the voltage class of 11.9kV distributed throughout the Electrolux plant. The differential of these large dry transformers is the IP-54 cabinet configuration, resistant to outdoor use, in addition to providing low installation costs and ease of maintenance.
Consequently, this improvement will bring benefits such as reliability in the manufacturing process and savings in energy costs. The consistency of quality in energy distribution will prevent voltage spikes originating from the 11.9kV supply directly from the local grid, complying with the ANEEL requirements for customers with demands exceeding 5MW.
WEG Supplies Transformer to Serve as Power Supply for Cauldron Furnace in Steel Company
A steel company entrusted WEG with the challenge of implementing an improvement aimed at increasing electrical power and consequently enhancing production capacity. For this project to be realized, it was necessary to maintain the existing space while increasing the nominal power due to the limited size of the room where the transformer will be installed. Originating from Santa Catarina, the 14.4MVA transformer, with a nominal current of 26kA at 13.8kV, will be transported to Maranhão, with an expected arrival in June 2021.
The equipment will be essential for the client in powering the cauldron furnace, replacing the existing transformer with a nominal power of 8.4MVA and a nominal current of 19kA, now increased to 14.4MVA and a current of 26kA. This change ensures greater production capacity, resulting in increased competitiveness for the client.
