Expansion of production capacity is global
Globally, the expansion of Nidec Global Appliance is supported by investments totaling 70 million dollars in several factories. In addition to Brazil, the company is leveraging and installing new Embraco compressor production lines in Austria, China, and Mexico. The set of investments will increase the annual production capacity by more than 10 million units, which will be added to the current capacity of 45 million per year.
“This investment is motivated by a mix of factors, one of which is a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic: as people around the world spend more time at home, it has become increasingly important to reassess the level of quality and energy efficiency of home appliances. At the same time, more people at home means more consumption of fresh food, increasing the demand for refrigeration in the food retail sector, such as supermarkets and convenience stores”, explains the CEO of Nidec Global Appliance, Valter Taranzano. Refrigeration is also a key factor in the healthcare and scientific industries, two sectors that have seen increased demand for refrigeration due to Covid-19.
