The vision that these representatives passed on to rural landowners was that those who allowed the installation of a wind turbine on their land could be unconcerned, as they would have a pension for the rest of their lives. Currently, after 7 years of all this history, Caetés has more than 200 generators installed in the region, something that has affected not only the rural landscape of the city, but also the lives and mental health of farmers. The trauma caused by wind farms

Since the beginning of the second half of this year, a super delegation formed by entities, social movements, unions and parliamentarians has been going to Caetés, visiting the areas of wind farms in the wild of Pernambuco, to hear the testimonies of the farming families about the impacts caused for these great undertakings in the lives of these people.

Residents claim promises have not been kept

The representatives of the company that would build the wind turbines offered to renovate and build the farmers' houses, in addition to paying between R$ 1.500 and R$ 2.000 for each wind turbine installed on the land.

A total illusion, since a municipality with less than 30 inhabitants and poor, with a Human Development Index - HDI of 0,522 would not be fully able to have a return on what was being invested. The various visits and conversations between representatives and farmers were mediated by city halls.

At the time, the mayors were Armando (PTB, in Caetés), Ernandes (former PR, today PL, in Venturosa), Zeca Vaz (PTB, in Pedra) and Neide Reino (PSB, in Capoeiras). The Rural Workers' Unions – STRs were not invited to the conversation and only found out about the visits that the small municipalities received, long after everything that had happened.

After wind impact, farmers protest for jobs, recovery of their land and compensation against renewable energy company and its representatives

But during 2014 and 2015, several studies and surveys were carried out, so that the company could decide on the most suitable construction sites for the installation of wind turbines, which were only built in mid-2015.

The wind farm was named “Ventos de São Clemente”, which started operating the following year. 100 of the 126 wind turbines spread across rural properties are installed in Caetés.

With the beginning of the operation of the wind farm, several problems began to arise and soon the families began to resort to the local unions, reporting that they were being harmed both in health matters and in financial matters, as their land ended up being severely damaged.
