XP Will Allocate R$ 100 Million to XP College, Which Will Offer Free Undergraduate Courses in Technology
XP is planning to establish XP College, which will feature five undergraduate courses in the technology field. The undergraduate courses offered will be free, while some short-duration postgraduate courses that will also be offered by XP College will be paid. This initiative is part of what is called XP Education and is being developed with an investment of R$ 100 million.
The free undergraduate courses that will be offered are in the fields of systems analysis and development, database, data science, cybersecurity, and information systems. XP’s plan is to open 400 spots each semester through a public notice.
XP Education’s CEO, Paulo de Tarso, states that the initiative focuses on training talent both for the company offering the undergraduate courses and for the job market. “Our bet with the new college is that, in the future, students will choose XP as their workplace. Students will not need to work at XP after completing the course,” he says. According to a study conducted by consulting firm McKinsey, Brazil may face a shortage of 1 million technology professionals by 2030, which is why XP is bringing this initiative to offer the mentioned undergraduate and graduate courses.

The expansion of XP’s education unit will occur seven months after the acquisition of IGTI College (Institute of Management and Information Technology), which specializes in teaching technology remotely. As a result, classes for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses at XP Education will be remote.
Specialization Courses Offered by XP
The specialization courses offered by XP, which can be postgraduate or the so-called “bootcamps,” will be charged by the institution. The cost of the 20 MBA courses will be based on R$ 8,000. With this, XP aims to end 2022 with 10,000 students, surpassing the current 3,000.
In contrast, the free courses in finance and technology will have a single monthly fee of R$ 65, allowing students access to all content. XP’s pricing method is also used by other companies, such as the Alura Group, which offers courses in digital marketing and technology.

The Technology Sector Begins to Expand, Generating New Professionals
A new trend among companies has been the creation of specialized departments in technology to integrate IT, facilities, employee services, and digital transformation.
Despite facing many challenges, especially during the pandemic, the technology services sector will see the second largest increase in spending in 2022, potentially reaching US$ 1.3 trillion, representing a 7.9% increase over the sector in 2021.
“The technology sector has been changing more rapidly, from business continuity to scaling and competitiveness of a company,” says the sales leader at Secure Power of Schneider Electric Brazil, Anderson Santos.
According to the executive, with the rise of the segment, one of the main changes that has occurred in recent years is the transition from the IT department to the innovation area.
Anderson notes that, nowadays, it’s difficult to talk about innovation without thinking about technology. Consequently, teams that previously focused solely on IT infrastructure and managed services are now responsible for technological projects as a whole, composed of specialists in different areas, from small details to large changes.
