Google Announced That It Will Offer Over Half a Million Scholarships for Free Online Courses for Young People’s Integration into the Job Market.
Google announced the opening of applications for scholarships for young people worldwide. The initiative contributes to the integration of the young population into the job market, considering that this audience generally lacks qualifications or professional experience, making them still sought after. The company’s goal is to distribute spots in free online and distance learning courses in sectors that will demand professionals in the coming years.
More Than Half of the Scholarships Are Destined for the Information Technology Sector
Google’s goal is to provide 500,000 spots in free online and distance learning courses by 2026. These spots will focus on training professionals in Information Technology (IT) support, project management, data analysis, and UX (User Experience) design.
In addition to actively contributing to the employability of young people, Google will also allocate 2,000 spots in free online and distance learning courses for self-declared transgender individuals.

First Phase of the Scholarship Program Will Be Conducted in Partnership with CIEE
The first phase of the program takes place in partnership with the Center for Integration of Company and School (CIEE). Google will provide 28,000 scholarships, and CIEE will conduct the selection process and follow-up with young people seeking to enter the formal job market, among high school students and recent graduates, participants of the Institution’s Learning Program, CIEE apprentices, and also students from higher education courses. It is important to emphasize that priority will be given to Black individuals, women, LGBTQIA + individuals, and low-income populations.
In a statement, Google informed that young people who are not studying can also compete for the spots. The registration and selection process will occur through the CIEE One application, a completely free app available for all smartphones. Selected candidates will receive exclusive mentoring support.
Grow with Google Program
The free online and distance learning courses offered by Google are virtual, allowing for greater participation and are available on Coursera’s education platform. There are about 800 hours of classes, considering the four credentials combined, with certification, aiming to prepare students for entry into the ever-expanding job market in technology.
The Google Professional Certificates are part of the Grow with Google program, a project that brings together products, services, and platforms to help individuals and businesses develop in the professional market.
The central goal of the scholarships is to provide practical and technical digital skills to assist individuals and businesses in their development, including socioeconomically. The courses will be 100% online, with a flexible schedule and duration depending on the student’s availability, with each course lasting 200 hours or more.
