Volkswagen Will Invest R$ 2.4 Billion in the Factories of São Carlos and São Bernardo do Campo; a Total of 1,500 Direct and Indirect Jobs Will Be Created in Both São Paulo Factories.
It was announced today, August 29, by the Governor of São Paulo, João Doria in Wolfsburg, Germany, that Volkswagen will invest R$ 2.4 billion in the factories of São Carlos and São Bernardo do Campo for the production of a new vehicle model in Brazil (the company has not yet specified what it will be). São Paulo is Full Steam Ahead, the Rail Network Should Drive More Than R$ 7 Billion and many job opportunities will be generated with the new investments in the state.
A total of 1,500 new direct and indirect jobs will be created in both São Paulo factories. Doria announced the news after visiting the VW factory in Wolfsburg.

During the visit, Doria learned about the professional qualification program for young students at the facility – the largest of the international automaker.
The system, with a tradition of over 100 years, allows for the combination of practice and theory to learn a profession. At the end of these courses, young students leave with guaranteed employment.
Professional training is financed by companies that pay the apprentice a monthly salary, and by the state which covers the costs of the vocational school. The training model has become a German export product.
According to the governor, the model he saw in Germany is similar to what his government is developing in São Paulo, such as “Novotec” and “Minha Chance,” programs that encourage the training of young people for the job market.
“This is one of Volkswagen’s best-kept secrets, and the training program done here is the same as the one we are developing at the Centro Paula Souza, at the Etecs and Fatecs. That is why our government created 12 economic development hubs, which will allow for the qualification of skilled labor tailored to the regional activity, whether in the automotive sector, weaving, agribusiness, or technology. Skilled labor is employed labor. This is what Germany does and what we are doing in São Paulo,” explained Doria.
Doria traveled to Germany on Tuesday, accompanied by a delegation of secretaries from his government, in addition to Mayor Orlando Morando (PSDB) of São Bernardo do Campo, where Volkswagen’s headquarters in Brazil is located.
