The Agroindustrial Cooperative has taken over 300 poultry farms involving 270 producers spread across 41 municipalities around Rolândia, Paraná. Lar intends to reach a rate of 700,000 chickens slaughtered per day starting this month, with the new industrial complex, potentially reaching 900,000 chickens slaughtered per day in 2023.
To meet all this demand, the new industrial complex will generate more than 1,900 direct jobs, of which 320 will be new.
The other Lar facilities are in Matelândia and Cascavel. “This is the first unit in Rolândia, it took us ten months to finalize the deal, but this work with poultry farming has been carried out for 21 years by the cooperative. We slaughter in Matelândia seven days a week, in Cascavel six days, and in Rolândia we are aiming for six days,” reports Irineo da Costa Rodrigues, president of the cooperative.
The location of the factory is strategic for the cooperative as it is installed 15 kilometers from the railway, which reduces transportation costs towards the Port of Paranaguá and importing countries for Paraná’s meat. The new plant will also facilitate service to the Northeastern Paraná market and cities in the interior of São Paulo. In the poultry segment, Lar has two hatcheries and 1,002 integrated associates.
In 2019, the Agroindustrial Cooperative generated R$ 6.95 billion, a growth of 6.8% compared to the previous year, and the expectation is to close 2020 with R$ 10 billion in business. The achievements of the 11,500 associates and 18,300 employees were accomplished in 11 municipalities in Western Paraná, Paraguay, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Santa Catarina.
