CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio announced that it will invest around R$ 2 billion in new projects at its Aluminum factory in the Sorocaba Metropolitan Region, São Paulo state. The announcement was made by CBA’s CEO, Ricardo Carvalho, in a press conference regarding the new phase of the Votorantim group company.
According to Ricardo, the majority of the investments of around R$ 2 billion at the Aluminum factory will be raised through the company’s stock offering in the market, which is expected to generate jobs and increase production. “During the implementation of new projects both at CBA and at Metalex, located in Araçariguama, approximately 1,700 jobs should be created, and after the completion of the projects, around 350 permanent jobs,” highlights CBA’s CEO.
The investment plans not only include jobs but also the expansion, renovation, and modernization of the aluminum production furnace lines, as well as upgrading technology used in the production line. “The factory had 7 production lines, known as furnaces, but two lines had been idle since the energy crisis of 2014, and now we will reactivate them, which should increase production,” emphasizes Carvalho.
