Rockhampton Bypass has Already Moved 1.31 Million Tons with Trucks
Earth movement accounts for some of the largest numbers disclosed so far. According to project data, 1.31 million tons of material have passed through the earthworks operation using 38,567 trucks.

The contracted works from the joint venture span 11.3 kilometers along the floodplain of the Fitzroy River. Approximately 90% of the access roads needed to serve this area have already been completed.
These access roads allow for safe and efficient movement within the construction site as different work fronts advance simultaneously.
The Rockhampton Bypass will feature 11.3 kilometers of new highway and 11 bridges. The new infrastructure will align the Bruce Highway to the west of Rockhampton.
Construction of 11 Bridges Advances with 696 Piles Installed for the Bypass
Work on the structures has also reached new milestones. By the reported stage, 70% of the piles necessary for the bridges had been manufactured, and 696 units had already been installed.
The connecting bridge of Capricorn Highway, one of the 11 structures planned in the ACCIONA and Fulton Hogan contract, has reached 23% completion.
ACCIONA’s construction manager, Andrew Tindal, stated that the project involves multiple fronts operating simultaneously and credited the achieved results to the planning and coordinated execution by the team.
According to Tindal, maintaining safety while achieving milestones ahead of schedule demonstrates the work done by the professionals involved in the construction.
Super-T beams open a new 18-month phase
Another important phase is the delivery and installation program for the super-T beams. The scheduled timeline for this work lasts 18 months and represents a new stage in the construction of the bridges.
With almost all access roads completed, earthworks moving over 1.3 million tons, and hundreds of piles already installed, various components of the Rockhampton Bypass are progressing concurrently.
The overall works include the construction of the new road, the installation of 11 bridges, internal accesses, and the necessary operations along the 11.3 kilometers of the project contracted by the joint venture.
