With 55 km over the sea, a cost of US$ 20 billion, and enough steel to build 60 Eiffel Towers, China’s largest project has connected Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau in a colossal bridge that defies the logic of engineering.
The construction will cover an area of 580,000 square meters and is provided by the Industrial Development Company of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Codin). There will be 9 buildings, including processing, packaging, storage of raw materials and finished products, quality control and quality assurance, and waste and wastewater treatment centers. All Fiocruz vaccines will be produced on-site.
Fábio Galvão, president of Codin, stated that “Fiocruz will be established in an industrial district where there is a whole perspective for new drug and vaccine productions, and it will also attract the production chain, with the need for inputs and equipment. So, besides the pandemic and public health issue, which is our focus, we will also have job and income generation for the population of Rio de Janeiro.”
