On Social Media, Videos of Mining Usually Attract the Attention of Thousands of Curious People. But a Recent Piece of Content Garnered Even More Attention by Showing a Man Who Claims to Have Found Nine Thousand Dollars in Gold in Just Five Hours, Using a Simple Equipment by the River. The Scene Raised Doubts and Generated Debate Among Internet Users.
A video published on social media is catching attention by showing a man, apparently American, who claims to have mined nine thousand dollars in gold after only five hours of artisanal mining by the river.
The content went viral and generated all kinds of comments, with many users questioning the truthfulness of the mining story. But after all, is it really possible to get that much gold in such a short time?
Improvised Mining by the River
The video shows the man in a typical artisanal mining setting artisanal: by a wide river, with a lot of visible gravel.

With 1,200 tons suspended, the Japan mega-structure in a grid shape with a floating sphere from Fuji TV features two 25-story towers connected by elevated walkways, titanium panels, and impresses the world with its ability to reduce wind impact.
He is seen digging a hole on the bank with a shovel, and shortly after, he starts throwing the collected material into a piece of equipment. The structure used is similar to a concentrator sluice.

This type of equipment is more efficient than the traditional pan, precisely because it speeds up the process of separating gold from the rest of the material.
The key feature of the sluice is that it relies on a constant flow of water. For this, the video indicates that the miner improvised a system with hoses, possibly connected to a water pump on-site.
Function of the Sluice and Separation of Material

In the functioning of the equipment, the process begins with the dumping of gravel and sand onto the top of the sluice. There, a kind of funnel guides the materials.
The flowing water washes the stones, while the sand and gravel slide down the sluice.
The gold, being denser, tends to remain trapped at the bottom of the equipment, while the lighter material is discarded.
In the video, the man emphasizes that this is just the first stage of separation. After using the larger sluice, he takes the concentrate — composed of the heavier materials — to a smaller and finer sluice.
At this stage, the goal is to separate only the gold from the fine sand, using the same physical principle: the denser material accumulates at the bottom of the sluice.
During the recording, the man shows small shiny particles appearing as he stirs the concentrate with a spoon.
These golden spots are what he claims to be gold, which, according to him, amounted to about nine thousand dollars.
Is the Gold Real?
Yes, it is possible that some amount of gold was extracted using the system shown, but the disclosed amount — nine thousand dollars in five hours — may have been exaggerated to attract more views on social media.
If the story is true, the man would have extracted approximately 85 grams of pure gold. This amounts to an average of 17 grams per hour, which is extremely high for a manual activity without the use of advanced machines.
For comparison, many professional miners take days or even weeks to achieve the same amount, even with more robust equipment.
And you, what do you think about this story? Do you believe it is possible to obtain nine thousand dollars in gold in just five hours using this type of equipment? Or is it all just a stunt to draw attention on social media? Share your opinion in the comments and let us know if you believe in this impressive mining story.
