Individual Attitude on Unpaved Residential Street Reveals Accumulated Frustration, Costs Incurred by Residents, Ongoing Municipal Charges, and Lack of Official Schedule After Nearly Two Decades of Waiting in the Neighborhood

After years of waiting for paving, a resident of Rua dos Estudantes, in Jardim Itatiaia neighborhood, decided to asphalt the front of his own house, drawing attention to the delay from public authorities and the daily impact on the local routine.

Individual Initiative Exposes Collective Impasse

The action occurred after repeated unfulfilled promises, according to residents, and highlighted the lack of official responses regarding the paving of the residential road.

Neighbors claim that the resident also offered the service to other residents, suggesting cost-sharing through a proposed crowdfunding, which did not gain traction.

The person responsible for the work preferred not to comment publicly, remaining silent on values, timelines, and any authorizations related to the intervention carried out.

Residents Report Weariness with Old Promises

Retiree Rosângela Pereira, 55, has lived there since 2008 and states that the promise of asphalt is old.

According to her, the lack of any paving makes the street difficult to access, especially during rainy periods, affecting residential entries daily.

Rosângela reports that spot improvements only occur when residents buy stones on their own to mitigate persistent holes and mud.

She stated that she would have liked to have paved the front of her house but could not afford the cost.

Charges and Fees Increase Dissatisfaction

Residents pay property tax as if the street were already paved, as reported, despite the absence of asphalt or proper gravel.

About two years ago, they also started paying for sanitation services, with a promise of paving soon after completion.

“Every year they say it will be the next year, and 17 years have passed in this expectation,” said Rosângela, highlighting inequality among residents.

According to her, those with better purchasing power can improve their entrances, while others repeatedly resort to temporary solutions.

Fear of Losing Personal Investments

Residents report fear of investing on their own and losing materials during sporadic public interventions on the road.

Rosângela states that stones already purchased were removed during grading services without warning, further hindering access to the houses.

“There are times when the neighbor can’t even get into her house,” she reported, commenting on the removal of materials after the passage of machinery.

The report sought the city hall to inquire about the timeline for paving but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

The space remains open for statements, while the situation continues as a precedent for an old demand still without an official solution.

Poderia apresentar os custos para a prefeitura e solicitar os descontos em IPTU e outros impostos, isso é justo já que a mesma recolhe impostos e não os reverte em benefício para a população.
