Acelen and partners form a Joint Venture for a 161MW solar park in the semi-arid region of Bahia, boosting decarbonization and generating 530 jobs, with support from the PAC.
Acelen, through the Mataripe Refinery, reveals the creation of a joint venture with Perfin Infra Administração de Recursos and Illian Energias Renováveis, focused on an energy project. This project aims to boost energy production in the semi-arid region of Bahia, with a capacity of 161MW, promoting decarbonization and generating new jobs in the region.
In addition to the positive environmental impact, the initiative will create around 530 jobs, supporting the Growth Acceleration Program. This solar energy project is a crucial step towards increasing the electrical energy available in the region. The union of these companies demonstrates a significant effort towards a more sustainable and energy efficient future. The development of solar complexes is a growing trend that is transforming the energy sector in Brazil.
Energy Project in the Semiarid Region of Bahia
In addition to meeting its own demand for electricity, with this project, the company also makes significant progress in its goals for decarbonisation. The solar complex is expected to begin operating from the third quarter of 2025. The project will be built in the Semiarid region of Bahia, a region privileged by excellent solar irradiation, and will have an installed capacity of 161MW.

Environmental and Socioeconomic Impact
Far beyond the renewable and clean energy generation, this initiative will reduce 128 thousand tons of CO2 per year, also reducing the consumption of energy acquired by Mataripe Refinery, zeroing scope 2. The construction of the solar park will also contribute to the socioeconomic development of the region, creating 530 new opportunities in the job market.
Investments and Project Financing
included in Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) from the Federal Government, the solar complex will receive a contribution of around R$530 million in investments. Of this amount, R$418,5 million will be in the form of non-recourse project finance, contracted in US dollars with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
Statement from Acelen CEO
For Acelen's CEO, Luiz de Mendonça, the project reinforces the company's vision of accelerating energy transition with excellence. 'We have reaffirmed our purpose since we arrived in Bahia, contributing to significant advances in CO2 reductions, which gains even more relevance with the implementation of this solar complex', highlights Mendonça.
Strategic Actions for the Energy Transition
The strategic investment is linked to a series of actions on the energy transition agenda adopted by Acelen, contributing to the reduction and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. greenhouse effect (GHG) from the refinery. The refinery's growing demand for electricity, with electrification projects, will be met by the energy contract encouraged in the form of self-production.
Carbon Credits and Commitment to Sustainability
Acelen will have carbon credits generated by the solar park, in addition to preference in the purchase of energy, reinforcing its commitment to decarbonization.
