Antenna That Became a Joke on Social Media Will Be Replaced in a Deep Renewal of the National Model, Which Also Includes Visual Changes, New Multimedia Center, Exclusive Interior, and Maintenance of the 1.0 Engine Already Known to the Brazilian Public.

The Renault Kwid produced in Brazil is expected to reach the 2027 lineup with a specific change that has become a topic outside the automotive universe.

The replacement of the long, flexible roof antenna with a shark-type external antenna is part of a broader renewal planned for the hatch produced at the Ayrton Senna Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná.

This information was reported by Autoesporte magazine.

According to the publication, the change is part of a package of updates that also involves visual, interior, and multimedia center changes.

The expectation is that the national Kwid will adopt design elements seen in the Kwid E-Tech, the electric version sold in Brazil and imported.

In addition to visual repositioning, the set would include internal adjustments and maintenance of the 1.0 engine already known from the model.

Renault Kwid’s Antenna Becomes a Meme and Is Expected to Be Retired in the 2027 Lineup

The roof antenna of the Kwid, longer than that of many larger cars, has become one of the model’s symbols on social media.

In videos published on TikTok, users started pulling the antenna up upon seeing an exemplar on the street.

The joke became known by the phrase “Kwid on the street, antenna in the moon,” repeated in various viral contents.

Now, this characteristic may cease to exist in the national model.

According to the investigation by Autoesporte, Renault plans to replace the mast with a shark-type antenna.

This type of antenna has a lower profile and is integrated into the roof.

In practice, the change alters the car’s visual and eliminates the flexibility that fueled the meme.

Component Will Come from Another Model of the CMF-A Platform

The planned solution would not be the same as the one used in the electric Kwid sold in Brazil.

It also does not appear in the Dacia Spring, the equivalent model sold in some European markets.

According to Autoesporte, Renault intends to use a component from another vehicle developed on the same platform.

The mentioned model is the Renault Kiger SUV, sold in India and part of the CMF-A family.

Thus, the Brazilian Kwid would have a configuration that does not exist in other Kwids around the world.

The information about its uniqueness is attributed to the magazine’s investigation.

So far, there is no official confirmation from the automaker regarding this specific detail.

The renewal planned for the 2027 lineup should not fully replicate the design of the Kwid E-Tech.

According to Autoesporte, the Brazilian model will have important distinctions on the exterior.

Among them are changes in the internal mesh of the front grille.

The bumpers will also have specific cuts.

Another mentioned element is a glossy black strip that connects the rear lights.

The aim is to update the visual identity without exactly replicating the imported electric version.

Interior Gains New Multimedia and Exclusive Finishes

Inside, the most noticeable change is expected to be the multimedia center.

According to Autoesporte, the interface will be different from the current one.

The system would be closer to the standard adopted in more recent models from the brand.

The organization of menus and graphics would also be updated.

The air conditioning will follow a simpler proposal.

The forecast is for a manual set, with controls similar to those already used in the subcompact.

In addition to the central unit, the interior finishes will undergo changes.

The center console and some details will be exclusive to the national Kwid.

These elements would have been adapted to Brazilian consumer tastes.

1.0 SCe Engine Remains Unchanged in the 2027 Lineup

Despite the changes in the visual and cabin, there is no indication of mechanical change.

Autoesporte’s investigation indicates that the Kwid will continue with the 1.0 SCe flex engine.

The set consists of three cylinders and 12 valves.

There is no phase variation in the commands.

According to the technical specifications released by Renault for the current model, the engine delivers 71 hp with ethanol.

The maximum torque is 10.0 kgfm, also with ethanol.

The transmission remains a five-speed manual.

If confirmed, the 2027 Kwid maintains the same performance and entry-level positioning.

Production and Launch Still Depend on Official Confirmation

Regarding the timeline, Autoesporte states that the new national Kwid would begin production in Brazil in the first half of 2026.

The launch is expected for the second quarter.

Other industry publications have already mentioned the possibility of the model arriving only in the second half of 2026, still as the 2027 line.

Without an official announcement from Renault with confirmed dates, the schedule remains undefined.

Still, reports point to a significant update in the Kwid’s cycle.

The changes involve visual, interior, connectivity, and a symbolic detail for those who follow the car on social media.

With the adoption of the shark-type antenna and the promised restyling, can the Kwid renew its image without changing the mechanical set that sustains its position as an entry-level car in the Brazilian market?

Qual carro hoje tem um preço bom? Isso não é exclusividade do Kwid.
