BYD Registers The Seal 06 Station Wagon In Brazil With A Range Of Up To 2,000 Km, Expanding The Debate In The National Automotive Market.
The Brazilian Automotive sector may gain a new and unexpected chapter after BYD registers the BYD Seal 06 DM-i, a hybrid model with a combined range of up to 2,000 km.
The recent movement indicates that the Chinese automaker is evaluating new strategies for Brazil, betting on a segment currently dominated by SUVs, but which is beginning to show signs of recovery in markets like China and Europe.
BYD’s Registration Grabs The Attention Of The Automotive Market
The registration of the BYD Seal 06 in Brazil does not confirm, for now, the launch of the model in the country. Still, the simple deposit at INPI usually precedes significant strategic decisions, especially when it occurs close to the renewal of other vehicles from the brand.

The new Renault Koleos has a screen exclusively for the passenger that is invisible to the driver, heated rear seats, and 29 assistance systems, but its Chinese competitors cost R$ 40,000 less and deliver more power.
Moreover, the registration comes at a time when BYD is already testing updates to well-known models in the national market. This context reinforces the automaker’s interest in expanding its portfolio in the Automotive sector in Brazil.
Station Wagons Lost Ground, But The Scenario May Change
For decades, station wagons — known as peruas in Brazil — were a constant presence on the streets. Models derived from hatchbacks and sedans dominated family garages, offering space and versatility.
However, with the rise of SUVs, this type of car lost prominence. Still, electrification has helped reposition the segment, especially in China, where energy efficiency and great range have once again valued more aerodynamic body styles.
Ocean Design Defines The Identity Of The BYD Seal 06
The BYD Seal 06 DM-i follows the Ocean Design language, already known in Brazil from models like Seal and Dolphin. The design features a clean front, sharp LED headlights, and an inverted trapezoidal grille, reinforcing the brand’s modern identity.
In dimensions, the station wagon measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. This layout guarantees good internal space, with a trunk capacity of 670 liters, which can reach 1,535 liters with the rear seats folded.
More Space Than Medium SUVs Already Sold In Brazil
When compared to hybrid SUVs already known to the Brazilian public, the Seal 06 stands out for its cargo volume. The trunk exceeds that of models like the Song Plus by nearly 100 liters, another BYD product already available in Brazil.
Thus, the station wagon positions itself as a more practical alternative for families and drivers who prioritize space without sacrificing efficiency and technology.
Equipment Strengthens The Technological Proposal
In the Chinese market, the BYD Seal 06 comes with a robust equipment package. The model offers an 8.8-inch digital dashboard and a multimedia center that varies between 12.8 and 15.6 inches, depending on the version.
Additionally, there are versions with six or seven airbags, fully LED headlights, wheels of up to 18 inches, and heated and ventilated front seats. The package also includes semi-autonomous cruise control, reinforcing the focus on Technology in the Automotive segment.
Hybrid Engine Guarantees A Range Of Up To 2,000 Km
The main technical highlight of the BYD Seal 06 DM-i lies in its fifth-generation hybrid powertrain. The system combines a 1.5 gasoline engine with 101 hp with an electric motor that can reach up to 218 hp, depending on the configuration.
This setup delivers a maximum torque of 32.2 kgfm and operates with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, known for their durability and safety. There are options that allow for up to 150 km of driving purely in electric mode.
Efficient Consumption And Focus On Daily Use
With a fully charged battery and a full 65-liter tank, the station wagon achieves a combined range of up to 2,000 km, according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. The consumption varies between 23.5 km/l and 31.7 km/l, depending on urban or highway use.
This performance brings the model closer to hybrid sedans already known in Brazil, reinforcing the proposal for efficiency without compromising space and comfort.
BYD Evaluates New Markets For The Seal 06
In Europe, station wagons remain relevant, while in China the segment is growing again with the popularization of electrified vehicles. BYD itself has already signaled interest in exporting the BYD Seal 06 DM-i to other markets.
Therefore, although there is still no official confirmation, the registration in Brazil indicates that the automaker is studying the potential of the model in the country. The question remains whether the Brazilian consumer would be ready to rediscover station wagons in the midst of the SUV era.
