Russian companies intend to invest approximately R$ 3.5 billion in the construction of the North Coast Port in Arroio do Sal, Rio Grande do Sul. The expectation is that 25,000 direct and indirect jobs will be generated by the project, which should start operating within three to four years.

The new port in Rio Grande do Sul, which will feature 1,200 meters of docks and 30 meters of draft, promises to be one of the largest and most modern projects in Latin America and could accommodate the next generation of ships, with an expectation of 50 years ahead.

According to Anderson César Leobino, administrative director of Doha, in an interview with the Portal Diário de Canoas, the construction of this port terminal is expected to boost the economy of Arroio do Sal and many other cities in Rio Grande do Sul.

25,000 Jobs Are Expected to Be Generated with the Arroio do Sal Port Project

Leobino states that once the first permits are issued, hiring will begin, prioritizing local labor. The project is expected to create 25,000 jobs.

Additionally, the director mentioned that the cleanup of the area will start next week, and the heavier construction works will begin in January. He stated that if everything goes as planned, the construction of the port will be completed in three years.

The executive adds that it will be a Private Use Terminal and that the responsible companies will implement socio-environmental compensations in Arroio do Sal, a municipality on the North Coast of Rio Grande do Sul.
