Record Number of Foreign Visitors Boosts International Tourism in Brazil and Consolidates Growth of Tourism in 2025.

The international tourism in Brazil reached, in 2025, the highest level in its history by registering a record number of foreign visitors, with 9,287,196 international tourists arriving in the country.

The milestone was achieved throughout the year, in different regions of the national territory, driven by air connectivity, strengthening of the issuing market of tourists and greater global visibility of the Brazilian destination.

The result represents a growth of tourism in 2025 of 37.1% compared to the previous year and significantly exceeds the official goals of the sector.

Growth of Tourism in 2025 Exceeds Official Expectations

The advance of the flow of international tourists surprised the government and sector experts themselves.

The goal established by the National Tourism Plan (PNT) 2024–2027 anticipated around 6.9 million international arrivals in 2025.

However, the volume actually recorded was 34.6% higher than expected.

This performance reinforces the perception that international tourism in Brazil is experiencing a phase of structural consolidation, and not just a one-time peak in demand.

Moreover, growth was not concentrated in a single period, remaining consistent throughout the months.

Flow of International Tourists Remains Strong Until December

The last month of the year confirmed the positive trend of growth of tourism in 2025.

In December, Brazil received 896,488 foreign tourists, a number 11% higher than recorded in the same period of 2024.

In practice, this means about 90,000 more visitors entering the country in just one month.

With this performance, December became the fourth best month of the year in terms of arrivals, trailing only January, February, and March.

This behavior indicates that the flow of international tourists was not restricted to the traditional high season, expanding the economic potential of the sector.

Major Airports Concentrate International Tourism in Brazil

The main air hubs maintained their strategic position as gateways for international tourism in Brazil.

The state of São Paulo led the national ranking, with 2,753,869 foreign visitors throughout 2025.

Following was Rio de Janeiro, receiving 2,196,443 international tourists, benefiting from the strength of cultural, events, and leisure tourism.

Meanwhile, Rio Grande do Sul occupied the third position, with 1,535,806 visitors, primarily driven by regional and border tourism.

This concentration reinforces the role of airport infrastructure in the performance of growth of tourism in 2025

Tourist Issuing Market Remains Led by South America

Among the countries of origin, the issuing market of tourists from Argentina maintained absolute leadership.

In total, 3,386,823 Argentines visited Brazil in 2025, consolidating the strength of regional tourism.

Next were Chile, with 801,921 tourists, and the United States, with 759,637 visitors, demonstrating the relevance of the North American market in the flow of international tourists.

European countries also had significant participation.

France, Portugal, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, and Spain collectively added 1,274,567 visitors, enhancing the diversity of the issuing market of tourists choosing Brazil as a destination.

Record Number of Foreign Visitors Reinforces Global Competitiveness

The record number of foreign visitors registered in 2025 reinforces Brazil’s image as an increasingly competitive destination in the international scenario.

Factors such as natural diversity, cultural offerings, global events, and greater air connectivity directly contributed to the result.

Furthermore, the performance creates a favorable environment for investments, job generation, and strengthening of the economy linked to tourism.

Therefore, the growth of tourism in 2025 not only exceeded expectations but also established new foundations for the sustainable advancement of international tourism in Brazil in the coming years.
