Minister Carlos Fávaro Highlighted How Agricultural Attachés Strengthen Brazilian Exports by Expanding Global Partnerships, Opening Markets, and Bringing Together Government, Productive Sector, and International Representations
Brazilian exports were at the center of discussions during the opening of the National Meeting of Agro and Agricultural Attachés, held on November 26, when Minister Carlos Fávaro highlighted the strategic role of professionals representing the country abroad, according to a news article published.
In an environment that brought together 54 agricultural attachés, 40 on mission, and 14 newly appointed, the event reinforced the role of these teams in international articulation, especially in a constantly changing global scenario.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) in partnership with ApexBrasil, the meeting also had representatives based in Bogotá, Miami, Brussels, Moscow, Dubai, Lisbon, and Beijing, broadening the dialogue with different regions of the world.

International Agricultural Cooperation in Institutional Relations
The meeting brought complementary views on how diplomatic articulation contributes to strengthening the agro sector.
Fávaro emphasized that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s direction has been aimed at restoring external credibility, highlighting the importance of strategic choices, such as Jorge Viana’s presence at ApexBrasil and the alignment among Mapa, MRE, and MDIC.
He pointed out that each new market opening means more jobs, development, and opportunities, reinforcing that agricultural attachés act as spokespersons for national production.
Throughout the program, public representatives highlighted that the integration between government and the productive sector is among the factors that enabled concrete advancements.
Results were presented that include 491 open markets and more than 200 expansions, made possible by the joint efforts of the attachés, embassies, and the trade promotion coordinated by ApexBrasil.
Diplomatic Missions of Agro and the Role of Brazilian Exports
In the second part of the meeting, the Secretary of Commerce and International Relations of Mapa, Luís Rua, pointed out that the international scenario requires continuous planning.
He reminded that the country needs to be prepared to advance even further by 2026, as geopolitical changes are rapid and directly impact trade flows.
Rua reinforced that much of the recent achievements only occurred thanks to diplomatic missions and the technical efforts of the teams working outside Brazil.
Meanwhile, the president of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, highlighted that foreign direct investments reached US$ 74 billion by October, a figure not recorded in over ten years.
According to him, this movement reflects the regained credibility and the dedication of the teams both in the country and abroad.
Commercial Promotion Abroad and the Expansion of Brazilian Exports
During the debate on economic advances, Fávaro mentioned the direct effects of sanitary negotiations and market openings conducted by Mapa.
According to him, the technical work has impacts for society as a whole, reinforcing that dedication and perseverance are the pillars that allow for the realization of results.
The authorities also highlighted that the strategy of expanding markets has already generated US$ 3 billion in new business, in addition to approximately US$ 33 billion projected.
Participating in the opening panel were the president of Embrapa, Silvia Massruhá, and the special ambassador of FAO for Cooperativism, Roberto Rodrigues, reinforcing the inter-institutional character of the meeting.
Opening Global Markets in Public-Private Dialogue
The event continues until December 2, with a program starting on November 24, bringing together government institutions, agricultural attachés, and representatives from productive sectors.
Individual meetings address topics such as market access, strategic partnerships, and commercial promotion. A visit to the Industrial Complex in Paraná also integrates the schedule.
With this dynamic, the initiatives reinforce how the expansion of these agendas contributes to making Brazilian exports more present and competitive in the global scenario.
Strategic Institutional Partnerships and Integration in Global Agro
Concluding the meeting, the participants reinforced that cooperation between Mapa, ApexBrasil, MRE, and MDIC strengthens national presence in foreign markets, expanding opportunities and accelerating technical processes.
This alignment, according to the representatives, is essential for Brazilian exports to continue advancing and building sustainable trade relationships.
