Electric SUV From Chevrolet Arrives for R$ 199,990, Comes From China and Targets Segment Dominated by Asian Brands. Model Has 304 Km of Range According to Inmetro, 201 Hp of Power and Forecast of Assembly in Ceará.
Chevrolet has launched in Brazil the Captiva EV, a 100% electric SUV with a suggested price of R$ 199,990, positioned between the Spark EUV and the Equinox EV in the brand’s electrification strategy.
Imported from China at this first moment, the model will compete for space in a segment that has been predominantly occupied by Chinese manufacturers, who have expanded the offer of electric SUVs in the country.
The vehicle is derived from the Wuling Starlight S, produced by the joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling, formed by General Motors and local partners in China.

Most drivers make a big mistake on the road without knowing: there is an exact speed that makes the engine work with minimal effort and saves much more fuel, and it is neither 80 km/h nor 100 km/h as many imagine.
The automaker also reported that the Captiva EV is expected to be assembled in Horizonte (CE), in the Automotive Hub of Ceará, following a similar movement announced for the Spark EUV.
Dimensions of the Captiva EV and Internal Space
With a length of 4,745 mm, width of 1,982 mm, and height of 1,650 mm, the Captiva EV fits into the medium SUV category.
The wheelbase of 2,800 mm contributes to cabin space, especially in the rear seat, which has a flat floor and air conditioning vents.
The trunk has a capacity of 403 liters, according to Chevrolet, and includes a lower compartment to accommodate charging cables.
The opening of the hatch is electric.
Digital Interior and Connectivity
In the cabin, the controls are concentrated on two screens.
The multimedia center measures 15.6 inches and the digital instrument panel, 8.8 inches.
The system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Among the functions disclosed by the brand is the so-called DJ Mode, described as a feature to facilitate access to audio content via Bluetooth connectivity.
The model also features keyless entry, push-button start, and USB ports.
Safety Package and Driving Assistances
The Captiva EV comes with a driver assistance package that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
Chevrolet groups these systems under the name Chevrolet Intelligent Driving.
In an evaluation published by CNN Brasil, during a trip between São Paulo and Campos do Jordão, the lane assist showed firm interventions when detecting involuntary departures.
The report also mentioned the functioning of the adaptive control with speed adjustment in curves, according to road conditions.
Electric Motor, Power and Performance
The front electric motor delivers 201 hp of power and 31.6 kgfm of torque, with front-wheel drive.
According to official data, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h happens in 9.9 seconds.
The proposed setup prioritizes progressive responses, according to information released by the manufacturer.
In a test published by Quatro Rodas magazine, the model demonstrated stability in curves and adequate body control, even with a weight of 1,800 kg in running order, according to the technical sheet.
60 kWh Battery, Range and Charging
The battery has a capacity of 60 kWh and official range of 304 km according to Inmetro standards.
The real range may vary depending on usage conditions, terrain, carried load, and driving style.
The battery warranty is eight years or 160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
For the vehicle, the coverage is for three years or 100,000 kilometers.
During charging, the Captiva EV accepts up to 120 kW in direct current, according to data published by Quatro Rodas.
In alternating current, the power reaches 6.6 kW.
Chevrolet informs that the vehicle comes with a portable charger, while other solutions can be purchased separately.
The energy regeneration system operates during deceleration and downhill, a feature common in electric vehicles.
The efficiency of recovery depends on the selected mode and the conditions of the route.
Equipment and Items That Are Missing
Although it features a safety package and connectivity compatible with the segment, the Captiva EV does not offer some equipment found in direct competitors.

Among them are wireless cell phone charger, electrically adjustable passenger seat, and two-zone digital air conditioning, according to a survey by Quatro Rodas.
The absence of these items may influence comparisons with other electric SUVs in the same price range, which adopt more extensive equipment lists in certain versions.
Competition Among Electric SUVs in Brazil
With the arrival of the Captiva EV, Chevrolet expands the competition in the medium electric SUV segment.
Among the rivals are models from Chinese brands already established in Brazil, such as BYD, as well as manufacturers newly arrived in the national market.
The original text also mentioned the Leapmotor C10, sold in the country through a partnership with the Stellantis group.
In a scenario of expanding supply, factors such as price, range, equipment, and after-sales structure tend to weigh on the purchasing decision.
Chevrolet relies on its network of dealerships and associated services, such as the MyChevrolet Charging app, which gathers charging points and allows scheduling at partner networks.
The strategy also includes commercial campaigns, such as bonuses for exchanging used vehicles, in accordance with conditions disclosed by the brand.
