Onix and Onix Plus 2025 arrive on the market with a bold design and a more efficient engine to maintain Chevrolet's leadership in the sector
The Chevrolet Onix and Onix Plus, eagerly awaited for 2025, arrive on the market with a bold and innovative proposal, aiming to maintain its leadership in the compact segment, which is one of the most competitive in Brazil, according to the Quatro Rodas website.
General Motors' commitment to these models is not limited to aesthetic updates, the new Onix and Onix Plus bring a complete package of innovations, which include from a renewed design inspired by the late Chevrolet Cruze until the introduction of a 1.0 turbo engine with direct injection, ensuring more power and efficiency.
Renewed design inspired by the Chevrolet Cruze
First, the Onix 2025 presents a completely renewed look. The front design, inspired by the Cruze, displays a new hexagonal grid. As a result, the car gains a more aggressive and modern appearancea. This change follows global trends, ensuring a sporty and attractive look.

Additionally, while the headlights retain their traditional shape, there has been a major update. Now, LED daytime running lights (DRL) are positioned at the bottom, unlike the previous version, which had them on the bumper. This modification not only provides a more technological aesthetic, but also opens up the possibility of including fog lights in the more complete versions.
1.0 turbo engine with direct injection
Another big new feature in the 2025 Onix is the engine. GM introduced the 1.0 turbo engine with direct fuel injection, which represents a significant evolution. As a result, the car will not only increase its power, but will also be more efficient.
Currently, the engine offers 116 horsepower and 16,8 kgfm of torque. With the new direct injection system, an improvement in performance is expected, without compromising fuel consumption. Furthermore, this update allows the Onix to comply with the requirements of Proconve L8, new environmental standards in Brazil.
Hybrid system in the new Chevrolet Onix
In addition to the engine improvements, the Onix 2025 may bring a mild-hybrid version. GM has already announced that it plans to launch hybrid vehicles from 2024. Therefore, it is quite likely that the Onix is included in this strategy.
If this happens, the Onix will be equipped with a 12V mild-hybrid system. This system aims to improve fuel economy and reduce pollutant emissions, something essential to meet the demands of a market increasingly focused on sustainability.
And the oil-bathed timing belt, is it still there?
I was going to ask that same question!!!😂😂
I don't know why, but I have a 2019 Onix Hatch turbo automatic with 220 thousand km and it has never been changed or had any problems. It was serviced recently and the oil-bathed belt is in perfect condition. I have done all the services and the oil has always been original. I see this news and I don't understand. Am I lucky?
I saw some reports like this, from a mechanic who didn't believe it and saw that he bought a new belt but the other one still had 50 thousand runs, people relax with preventive maintenance, there's still ignorance among mechanics, if this system was bad it would be decreasing instead of increasing, just like the 3-cylinder engine which is also the target of prejudice, people prefer to pay for the belt and labor every 40 thousand than just do this with more than 200 thousand, I don't understand.
Yes, it is decreasing.
It's better to change the belt 5 times and not take the risk. Have you researched how much it costs to change the Onix's oil-bathed belt?
Change the timing belt! The original oil helps a lot, but you are running a serious risk, especially because the fuel always degrades the oil a little...
You're right, Joselito!
The fuel in Brazil is of very poor quality. And it does degrade the belt.
I always had my maintenance done on time, at an authorized dealer, with the recommended oil, and after 123.000 km my engine broke down.
It was pure luck on your part, Fabio!
Well… Take all the invoices and sue GM… Simple.
In reality, it depends a lot on the care taken by each person. Perform maintenance according to the Manual and use original products.
By doing all this it is difficult to have defects.
No, we all know this is just a load of crap. Do you want photos and videos of countless 2021, 2022 and 2023 Onix with a broken engine? And I'll say more, all under warranty and with proof of original products recommended by the dealership. And another thing, go to the authorized dealership to see if they sell the bearing separately, until last month they only sold the complete cylinder head. And there's no other way, the belt broke, in the case of this model, the bearing was also damaged, since it's not sold separately, you have to buy the complete cylinder head. There are two down here in the garage and in court, the owners put them in.
My friend, you are a very lucky person because most Onix with less than 100.000 km have already had problems. The ideal thing for this car would be a timing chain and CVT gearbox, then it would be perfect because the car is beautiful. I had a Cobalt but seeing the various problems with this Onix engine last year I exchanged the Cobalt with 385.000 km for a Toyota Yaris Sedan.
What do you mean by the majority? Where did you see this statistic? For the love of God, these keyboard drivers who never had a car... I'll tell you. Check out the **** Long Duration of the Onix at Quatro Rodas.
The CVT gearbox is better for fuel consumption, but the automatic gearbox with torque converter is more durable.
Lots, but lots of luck!!!!!!!!!!!.
To this day, I haven't seen any that have exceeded 70 thousand kilometers. The company has several and they all had problems.
I have 1 too and it's excellent
Just use the correct oil (it's not enough to just have the correct viscosity) and you won't have any problems. This is the word of someone who has one at home.
It's true!!!!!!!!!!………….., I had forgotten about this miracle/d3sgr@ç@ of engineering.
TOOK THE WORDS FROM MY FINGERS‼️‼️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And this belt bathed in oil continues???
There are Koreans out there with timing chains that are filling the workshops here in my city. Could the problem be with the car owner who likes to save money when it comes to maintenance?
Absurd cost to change the oil-bathed belt, it's almost dishonest, I have a HB20S 19 timing chain, only joy, 200 thousand km already, tell me, what is the problem that these Koreans are presenting??? Talk to **** sleep, or in your city the drivers are really bad
