Chinese Manufacturer Develops Military Electric SUV Equipped with Various Technologies. The Dongfeng M-Hero 917 Features Voice-Controlled Drone, Night Vision, and Much More!
The Dongfeng M-Hero 917 stands out for its robust and imposing design, which appears carved directly from a rock, with striking exterior lines and an aesthetic dominated by geometric shapes and pronounced creases. This electric SUV goes beyond just a rugged appearance, incorporating typical features of military vehicles.
Among its notable functionalities are the crab mode for advanced maneuvers, a military-grade night vision integrated into the dashboard, and the ability to control a drone through voice commands, adding a futuristic and versatile touch to the vehicle.
Military Electric SUV Features Unique Design and Cutting-Edge Technologies
The Chinese brand goes above and beyond with the Dongfeng M-Hero 917, applying unique technological solutions and introducing details such as the internal door opening via a trigger-like mechanism. Therefore, there is no door handle; the motion of opening the door places the hand in a shooting position. There is also a button option for opening, in case “pulling the trigger” is not your goal. It is very common nowadays to find vehicles with independent controls for rear seat passengers.

The German economist Wolf-Peter Schill has no doubts: “Electric cars are already far superior to cars with internal combustion engines.”
In the Dongfeng M-Hero 917 electric SUV, it’s no different; however, with one detail, when lowering the central armrest, a screen is revealed within the 8-inch LCD console, which can control the seats’ temperature and massage functions as well as the air conditioning and sunroof.
Among its options, the military SUV can be equipped with a Gdus S400 drone. The equipment can take off and return to the vehicle simply with a voice command. For more complex maneuvers, the drone can also be controlled via the dashboard screen or a smartphone. Of course, this would not be one of the cheaper options. Those interested should invest US$ 14,000, roughly R$ 68,000 for the drone.
New Electric SUV Can Deliver 1088 Horsepower
Another highlight of the Dongfeng M-Hero 917 military SUV can be activated from the instrument panel. Just below the multimedia center, the driver can toggle the off-road controls and crab mode. Like the Hummer EV, the electric SUV can also steer its rear wheels. This allows for greater control and stability while driving the vehicle, especially on uneven terrain.

In the case of the Hero, the SUV comes equipped with a mode that allows the rear wheels to steer at the same angle as the front ones. The other existing system is the counter-steering, where the rear wheel moves in the opposite direction to the front one, making it easier to park, for example.
This convenience is already present in several other premium models like the Porsche 911 GT3 and Mercedes S-Class. In China, the electric SUV comes with two powertrains: four electric motors, with a 142.7 kWh battery, which offers 1088 horsepower and 142.8 kgfm of torque. All of this provides a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 4.2 seconds and a range of 505 km in the CLTC cycle.
